My question has to do with possible restitution that I might be owed as a result. The WSP contacted me this afternoon and told me that the Spokane Police located the bike during a warrant service this morning. I was given the number of the tow company that impounded the bike but I wasn't given a case number or contact info for the detective handling the case. I have a call in to the investigation unit hoping that I can get some more information on the case, IE: if a suspect was charged with possession of stolen property or theft of a motor vehicle. A few people have suggested that I contact the prosecuting attorney to request restitution. If there is a suspect I do plan on talking to the PA, my question is what kind of legal options do I have since the bike is being returned? I know that the ignition is punched and the VIN is scratched off. I don't know any more regarding the condition of the bike, I won't get it back till tomorrow morning. Thanks for any help. |
