| Washington (VA) ![]() | Astoria Questions Hi all, I have an interview next week with the state for a position in Warrenton, and was wondering if you wouldn't mind answering a few questions for me. 1. How's the housing market? Ive looked at the MLS for the area, and it seems reasonable given that it's a highly desirable location. 2. If I needed to rent a tiny place (just me) until I could sell our house up here and buy a home there, where should I look? I'm thinking studio apartment. 3. Recreation. Well, we love the ocean, and we love hiking, outdoorsy stuff, so I think we'll be just fine, but for "in-town" things, how's the restaurant selection, etc. Thanks in advance, and I HOPE HOPE HOPE I get the job. This area of Oregon is one of my favorite spots in the US. |

The housing market is fair. However you may take into consideration that Longview and Kelso is only 45 minutes away if you take the back way on the Oregon side. There are many fine food establishments in the area, antique shops, museum, a freaky bridge (don't ride your bike across it ) it takes you to the Washington side and Long beach which is a fun town. Theres the Docks, coffee shops and if I remember right a great bakery on main street. If you go on down to Seaside there is an outlet mall, more food establishments, golf courses, Fort Stevens camp ground ect. You won't run out of things to do.It takes awhile for the locals to warm up to outsiders, but the ones I have met have been really nice people. The morning crowd usually goes to Pig and Pancake for breakfast. Don't stay at the Greenriver Motel I won't elaborate. Good Luck to you, I'm envious I love it over there. I hope you get the job I'll keep my fingers crossed.....MrsD |

There is housing for all income levels. I prefer the area I'm in because it's more rural between the towns. I go down to Seaside more than Astoria for entertainment. Both towns have movie theaters, community pools, gyms, skate parks for the kids, and lots of great places to eat. It's a good time to buy a house here. There are plenty available and not enough buyers. If you live in Washington, you shouldn't have to pay a state income tax. It will give you a little more income, but you'll have to cross that long bridge to get to work. It's something to think about. Last edited by a109driver; 07-16-2010 at 12:55 PM.. Reason: More... |

| Washington (VA) ![]() | ![]() Nope, it was with the OLCC as an Enforcement Inspector. ![]()
The interview went well, and I'm hoping to get a second interview within the next couple of weeks. If I get the second interview, I have to impress the regional manager enough to hire me. It's a great job, wayyyy better benefits than WA State, or even the feds, and it would be almost my dream location. | |

Either way, I'll be in Warrenton on Tuesday if anyone wants to meet up. I'll be in the cage so I wont be able to do any rides, but still....give me a holler. Number is in my profile. |

I'll have to look it up for the area you live in. I'll call you if I'm not tied up. I should be off work during the day and cleaning up after a camping trip. My number is in my profile too, so you could call me when you're free. |
