If you are just starting out reading this series, you can get caught up starting at "My Old Friend - Part 1: The Rebirth of an XT"

Well today's post isn't a whole lot to mention, so I'm giving it a .5 status. Not really a huge "leap" forward in the build project, but just a few things I've done here and there, and what I have found.

As mentioned in my last article, the Steering Stem bearings were shot. I have new ones on order, but now, I am having...

Ashtray Installation on a SUZUKI SV1000S

I was sitting around bored today still reeling from the double enchilada and taco plate @ the restaurant last night thinking to myself, "What can I do on this rainy day without getting too wet...?" then the answer came to me from the midst of my hazy, smoky reverie: Install an ashtray on my Suzuki SV1000S!! So that's what I did.

Here goes:

After a long work week, I knew I wanted to get out and ride a bit with the missus. It's been awhile since the two of us went on a cruise together, and seeing as how the weather on Sunday was awesome, I wanted to go. As a matter of fact, I really didn't give her the option. I announced in my most commanding voice that we were going on a ride. She could have overruled me, of course, but I was hoping she wouldn't call my bluff.

It was at this point that I realized I had no destination...

This weekend was a good weekend for the old XT.

It started off Saturday, I stopped by Harbor and picked up a new Compression tester. It's much easier to just buy a new one, instead of bugging your friend that you borrowed the other one from that he forgot to give you the right adapter. Oh well, I really needed to get myself one...

Ass Over Tea Kettle

Posted 10-27-2008 at 08:52 AM by Gamuru
Every other Friday has me running the store. I have to show up at about 7:15 to open and I won't put the key in the door again till after 6:15 that night. Needless to say, it makes for a long day. Imagine my surprise then when I pulled into the parking lot this last Friday to see one of my parts drivers, Ken, parked in front of the door waiting for me. I parked my bike and walked over to where he was to see what was happening.

He was struggling to get out of his car, obviously favoring...

If you are just joining me on this adventure, start with Part 1: My Old Friend

There is not a whole lot to cover in this installment, however just a quick update, a few pictures, and whatnot.

I ordered the Carburetor Rebuild Kit on Wednesday, and on Thursday I was called to be told it would be 3 weeks back ordered. "Yay".

In fact, everything I ordered is back ordered. The Carb Rebuild Kit, the Petcock Rebuild Kit, and the AAV Rebuild Kit is...

If you are just joining me on this adventure, start with Part 1: My Old Friend

On to part 2 of this adventure, today I'm going to go over last nights work that was done.

I took a couple days off from starting this project overall. I wanted to take the time to research a few things, plan my attack on the project, and think of what I want for an outcome. I spend a lot of time going over in my head, what exactly I would like to perform, prior to doing the job. It helps...

This last Saturday found me sitting in front of the computer carrying on with others on this forum. I don't remember what the topic at hand was, and that's why I decided to leave it behind and go ride. The weather was nice and I couldn't bare the thought of letting a sunny day slip by without taking a ride on my motorcycle. Being so late in the year, one must jump at every opportunity to ride when it presents...

In 1992, my parents introduced me to what would become a good friend of mine for years to come. This friend though, over the last several years, has become old and worn out. For 3 years, she has sat, tucked away alone in a small shop in Oregon, just wasting away.

Now, it is my turn to provide for her, the fun and care, that she once provided to myself.

My XT225, although old, and most would probably just toss away, is still a good bike. I spent a lot of years on...
