My Seat Recovery Project

Let me start by saying, "Hell ya! I'm done!"

This project turned into what can be only described as work. And, as we all know, work isn't fun. It's work. That's why you get paid, cuz you wouldn't do it otherwise.

Enough of that. Let's get to the pictures. For the sake of saving room, I'll post the thumbnail for most of the photos. Click each to embiggen it, 'kay?

I can see clearly now!..... Sort of!?!

I can see clearly now...now I can't...now I can...now I can't. You get it.

So, here is the deal, my "anti-fog" visor worked for about a month, then it started fogging up. Not as bad as my plain visor would, but still it fogs.

Well, I figured since it wasn't working correctly anyhow, I would try some anti fog products. I know, I know, it isn't recommended, but what the hell, it isn't working right anyhow!

So the first test was with one of those...

And So It Begins...

Posted 12-28-2009 at 08:39 AM by Gamuru (The Path Less Traveled)

The highway back into town is frosted over. I'm done riding until we get a long, warm spell to thaw things out.

I've been threatening to do it for a couple weeks now, and, this morning, I went and did it.

Yep, I stripped my seat down. It's time for a recovery. You see, the seat has been slowly coming apart at the seams all year long, and it desperately...

Rain?

Posted 12-22-2009 at 07:23 PM by Real Fast Travis (The ramblings of a motorcycle rider)

I guess it is that time of year, everyone is talking about riding in the rain or cold.

First, let me say, I love the rain. It is what makes it so green in the Northwest. It is what gives us our great lakes and rivers and streams and awesome waterfalls!
It gives us the snow so we can ski. Ect., ect., I think you get my point.

Now, as for riding in it, ya, I hate it! Would rather ride in the cold than rain. The main thing I hate about it is the poor visibility,...

When Being Wrong Is Still Right

Posted 12-21-2009 at 03:50 AM by Gamuru (The Path Less Traveled)

Last Saturday, following advice from the local weathermen, I rode to work. It was the first time in a long time. Heck, probably since before Halloween? Yeah, it's really been that long.

Anyway, as I sat in the driveway Saturday morning hoping the bike would start, I was overwhelmed by how wrong, once again, the weathermen were in their predictions for a dry Saturday. You see, it was sprinkling and that was turning quickly into a miserable drizzle. As a matter of fact, I got completely...

Adventures of a Harley Chic Rider

A lot has happened since my last post. I fell off the PNWRiders wagon for a long time.

My VROD, I named her Vida (Spanish for life), had to have tranny and engine rebuild this past Summer. She was in the shop all riding season. The tranny and engine failed because of a defective manufactured part in the tranny. Basically, shards of metal were thrown into the engine via oil pump. Imagine that! All the bearings got eaten up.

She was back on the road long enough for me...

Destination Highways - A Recommendation

Posted 12-07-2009 at 10:33 PM by Gamuru (The Path Less Traveled)

The Cliff-Notes Version of this blog post: Buy this book.

I was introduced to this fine riding guide while on vacation at my brother- and sister-in-law's place. That was back in September. We were trying to decide where to ride so my sister-in-law pulls out this book, Destination Highways Washington, and hands it to me. Right away I knew I was holding something special. Hell, the first highway listed in the...

Cheating With Four Wheels

Posted 10-22-2009 at 07:08 AM by Gamuru (The Path Less Traveled)

It's been well over two weeks since my last post. Why? I hate to say it, but with the change in weather, the bike has been parked for the most of it. I did manage to sneak away from work early last Thursday for a short ride. I was to be off on Friday and planned to do some riding, but Mr. Weatherman said it was going to rain. And, boy, did it! I'm glad I did get in what little riding I did. Had I waited till Friday, I would have either been really upset or really wet.

Eighty miles...

Eating My Words

Posted 10-03-2009 at 03:11 PM by Gamuru (The Path Less Traveled)
Updated 10-03-2009 at 03:13 PM by Gamuru

It finally happened. The weather took a turn for the worse and, as part of the benefits package that comes with managing my store, I have the use of the company truck. I decided to park the bike and drive the truck until the weather warms again. Oh, don't get me wrong, I'll still ride here and there when the weather is good, but my riding season is pretty much drawing to a close.

Having said all that, the sun made a showing today. I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and...

Rumble, Rumble, Rumble!

Posted 09-30-2009 at 06:31 AM by Gamuru (The Path Less Traveled)

This was as close as we got to the Oyster Run this year. My wife and I were waiting to cross Highway 20 at La Conner-Whitney Road. Bike engines were roaring all around us. So much so that it made the hair on my arms stand up. Awesome! It was like being in the middle of a hornet's nest, only louder. While waiting in line I pulled my camera out of my pocket and snapped the above picture...
