Will the naked lady come to life?

Posted 12-05-2011 at 06:47 AM by Curley (My Restorations)

As the winter months rolls in and Christmas looming around the corner, the project slowed down a little.

As you can see in the previous update, the lady is pretty much naked only with her heart in place!
We have been trying to get her started without the battery but it looks like the battery is needed. Took me some time to get around to buying the battery as i had to do stuff( some people call it "work"!) to pay bills, feed the family and restore a bike! ...

My First Restoration Project - 1961 BSA C15 250cc

Posted 09-29-2011 at 03:31 AM by Curley (My Restorations)

When i was a kid, my neighbor used to ride around the estate in his Norton. It made some noise but it just looked beautiful! He had a routine for riding the bike on Saturdays at 5pm every week.

I always looked forward to seeing the bike motor along the estate and the sound gave me goose bumps!

That was when i said to myself that someday i want to own something like that! I was 10!

From the dream of owning, it grew to restoring a classic and riding her...

...and that's a good thing!

That's right, boys and girls, yours truly got himself a new-to-him '88 KLR650. I picked it up for $1,200. Wasn't it just a short week ago I was saying I wanted a dual sport? And BLAM!! One comes and hunts me down. Cheap, too.

A friend of a customer just happened to be selling his, so I snatched it up. When I went to look at her, I about fell...

If you are just starting out reading this series, you can get caught up starting at "My Old Friend - Part 1: The Rebirth of an XT"

Well it has been awhile since I've written in this blog for this series of updates on my XT.

Truth be told, it was a series of events that caused me to stop working on this bike.

But to bring everyone up to speed...

For the most part, all the parts are in for the bike. In fact, I have had everything...

Stinking Badges

Updated 08-21-2009 at 01:36 PM by Gamuru

An eternity ago, I sanded down and repainted my wife's gas tank and side covers. Part of the project was to change the stock Yamaha badges from gold to chrome to better match her new paint color. After several attempts, I finally found a chrome sticky-back tape that worked well for adhering to the badges.

Well, today, I finally finished the last badge and get 'em all put back on the bike. I took a step back and admired the new look it gave her bike. The chrome really looks much better...

Got Her Pegged

Updated 04-07-2009 at 06:36 AM by Gamuru

Here a little while ago I wrote about taking a bit of a spill after I slipped on some gravel on the side of Highway 9 in Bryant. During that minor mishap, I managed to snap off the right-hand highway peg off my poor bike. Ever since I've been riding around with just the left-hand highway peg and the nub from the broken one.
