The Path Less Traveled
Welcome to my blog! I'm committing this blog space to my adventures with motorcycles and activities related to them. This will include all sorts of stories including repairing them, going on trips, learning different riding techniques, meeting other riders, etc. In other words, a general dumping ground for whatever strikes me. Hope you enjoy the read.
The Nodding Wave

This time of year finds me alone on the roadways most days as I make my trek back and forth to work. Oh, I'm not the only vehicle on the road, but the inclement weather and shorter daylight times--I'm sure--keeps people from commuting on their bikes. So, when I do see another rider, it makes me smile to know I'm not the only fool getting soaked.
Most of my ride in to work yesterday was uneventfully. I did have a tractor-trailer pull out in front of me at 84th and Highway 92. This caused me to have to back way off due to the amount of dirt and mud he was throwing into the air. Other than that, it wasn't a bad commute. I was heading south on Highway 9 coming into Frontier Village. If you're familiar with the road, I was just to the 40MPH speed limit sign when I saw a single headlight make the corner from 204 onto Northbound Highway 9.
"Great!
Another biker on the road," I thought.
As I peeled off 9 onto Vernon Road I looked over at the other biker to see him looking back--head turned and everything--at me. It was then that I realized I was looking at one of Snohomish County Sheriff's motorcycle cops. I lifted my left hand and gave him a quick wave before I hit the bend in the road that dumps you out at the Big O Tire center. He, being the stoic rider that sheriffs tend to be, didn't wave back, but he did give me a very noticeable and distinct nod of the head.
Good enough for me!
Made my morning.

| | When I was in Seattle on Airport Way getting my ashtray holder I must have seen 3 cops...one of them blipped his siren when he went by scowling at my direction, scared the crap out of me. I have made one decent moto cop acquaintance in Bremerton but he was at our little mid summer MSF safety training at Shari's on Wheaton. I'm pretty sure they aren't allowed to wave though, BTW. |

| | I saw Officer Friendly again yesterday morning. Same spot and everything. This time, however, as he came around the corner from 204 onto 9 he had his lights running. I stopped by the Burger King on the corner to grab some breakfast. While waiting for my food, I looked out their side window to see him handing an award to a person driving a minivan. |
