The Path Less Traveled

Welcome to my blog! I'm committing this space to my adventures with motorcycles and activities related with them. This will include all sorts of stories about repairing them, going on trips, learning different riding techniques, meeting other riders, etc. In other words, a general dumping ground for whatever strikes me. Hope you enjoy the read.

XS650 Heritage Special

Posted 07-19-2009 at 06:35 PM by Gamuru

A customer stopped by the store where I work on his bike. He was riding a Yamaha XS650. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the year, but I'm thinking somewhere around 1980. When I finally got a chance to grab my camera for some pictures, the owner had wandered off to one of the other shops in the shopping center. I went ahead and snapped a couple quick photos of this fine example of Yamaha engineering.

I'm showing you this bike in preperation for an upcoming post on another customer's bike. It's also an XS650, but, oh so much different!

Stay tuned...

I'm not really sure, but Wikipedia has it listed at 450 pounds.

According to Yamaha, the XS650 twins were introduced in 1978. They didn't say when the Heritage special came out.

That was the first year of the XS650 Special. The XS650 sans the "Special" connotation came out way before that...circa 1968 I believe.
