The Path Less Traveled

Welcome to my blog! I'm committing this space to my adventures with motorcycles and activities related with them. This will include all sorts of stories about repairing them, going on trips, learning different riding techniques, meeting other riders, etc. In other words, a general dumping ground for whatever strikes me. Hope you enjoy the read.

Tired Again?!?

Posted 09-17-2009 at 07:59 AM by Gamuru

While sitting in Ike's last Friday for dinner with the wife, I noticed what looked like a piece of chewing gum stuck to the rear tire of my scoot. After we finished, I walked out to see what it was. Yeah, not gum... cords. The tire was worn out. You know, the one I just put on in February; just eight short months and barely 11,000 miles ago. Man, that was quick.

I've ordered another one from Cycle Barn in Smokey Point and will keep track of the miles on this tire. If it wears out just as quick I'm going to switch to a different tire.

BTW, I'm running Kenda Challengers, front and rear. Maybe they're suppose to wear this fast. Anyone got any input or experience with this tire they'd like to share? Or, perhaps a tire recommendation? Something with good grip for the corners and moderate durability for longevity.

    Wow...
    11k out of a tire?
And you are complaining about that?
I get 1100 out of a set of tires on my tard.
I'd get about 4k out of a set on my R1...
    11k????????
    I'd be DANCIN!!!!!!!!!

Turns out, after doing some research, that most people get between five and six thousand miles from their Kenda Challengers.

I think I'll quit bitchin' now.

Yep. I thought that sounded pretty sweet too.
Bike tires can not be compared to car tires for longevity.
Depending on your riding, that Kenda is a really great tire for the money.
