Wobsite Blag Update - Olympics Route

Posted 09-08-2008 at 09:51 AM by ratchet206
Gamuru and a few others have asked about my trip around the Olympics so this update is just going to be some details about that from my perspective.

I highly recommend making sure you have the entire day available for this (especially if you're starting from Seattle or somewhere similar.) It always takes longer than I predict so I've learned just to not make plans for the evening so I'm not rushing to get back. I'm generally too tired/sore to do anything after such a ride anyway....

Wobsite Blag

I managed to take a trip around the Olympics on Monday (September 1st)... left at about 7 AM and just rode. It was a bit colder than I would have liked but very much worth it.

I've officially owned my K1200S for 1 year now as of August 31st. I still love it and it still looks brand new. Just over 13,000 miles on it so far... about 10,000 miles less than I rode the year prior on my K75 but still a respectable number. Two years ago I had some 'time off' for most of the summer, so I...

Twists & Turns, Smiles & Miles

Posted 08-27-2008 at 12:34 AM by ratchet206
I love the feelings that are evoked by riding. It's just so amazing to see the road open up in-front of you, going on as far as you can see, carving a path in the wilderness, wrapping around the edge of a mountain, or following the path of a river or coastline. If someone asked me what freedom means to me, that would be it. There's just nothing like it.

It's been a while since I went on a long (more than 300 miles) trip on my own just to experience the journey and I've been itching...

Awesome Weekend

What an awesome weekend I had! I've learned that boozohol just makes me really 'friendly' to everyone, not just girls. It's now Tuesday and I still don't feel quite recovered, a clear sign that I drank too much... Maybe my $122.86 tab at the bar really wasn't a mistake. After seeing some of the pictures and hearing stories about this weekend it seems I was relatively tame compared to what some others got up to.

By popular demand here are the lyrics for "I Kissed Jerome"...

Missing a Ratchet?

Posted 07-14-2008 at 03:28 PM by ratchet206
I fell off the planet a few months ago (Just before the gear roller skating event, apologies for missing that one.) for personal reasons unrelated to the forums here. I try not to make a habit of falling out of contact, it just happens to everyone sometimes. The rumors of my demise are greatly exaggerated as they say. I've been putting in a LOT of miles on my bike lately... It's just about 11 months old and sitting at 11,000 miles right now, 800 of which I put on this last weekend.

Bla Bla Bla 2

Saturday was awesome. I met up with everyone at the OCB and had a good time. Always fun to look at the bikes and meet other riders. There were some group rides after but I wanted to go home and text version 2 of my camera mount. I tool the long way home and then tried it out, it's still shaking too much so I think I'm going to scrap that idea and try a helmet mount solution. I did set up the tripod on an interesting road and got some video of me riding for fun. It looks cool but would be incredibly...

Pillars of Happiness

Posted 04-07-2008 at 01:55 PM by ratchet206
Updated 04-13-2008 at 09:31 PM by ratchet206
It sounds sorta cliché but I've been thinking about what it is exactly to be happy in life lately. A quick Google search reveled the following guideline/definition of "Happiness":

------

Happiness is a personal choice. Many people wrongly believe that happiness depends on what we get in our life, such as money, social status, or love relationship. The fact is that we are using these things to fill what is missing inside.

There are five basic...

Freeway Antics

Riding a motorcycle in Washington is interesting because the amount of awareness you get from other drivers varies so much. (I’m sure this is probably true in other states as well, but since I’ve only ever ridden a motorcycle here I have nothing to base it on.) Some drivers give you tons of space, others can’t see you or think it’s okay to just cut you of because, of course, you can stop and move out of the way quickly.

Today on my ride home from work I spot a grey BMW 328i Coupe...
