Maintenance Meet-Up

Posted 03-24-2010 at 09:30 PM by Real Fast Travis (The ramblings of a motorcycle rider)

I just wanted to write a little about my Maintenance Meet-Ups.

I did a review once, but got timed out of the forum and lost it! Bummer!

So, it all started as a thought to get people together to work on their bikes, that don't have the place to do it, i.e. apartment dwellers, like me.

Then, I figured, why not have those who don't know how, but want to learn, come too? So I did. It was good!

After two events, third one...

Well, there I was, all geared up, ready to enjoy a beautiful day!

Pulled out of my apartment, up to the stop sign, stopped, made left turn................and just before I was upright from turn, tire spins, I lowside! FUCK!!!!

I didn't deserve this, I wasn't hot rodding it, just made the turn like a thousand times before.

It happened so quick, I am not sure what happened. Unlike cars accidents I have been in, where everything seems to slow down, this...

Gear test/check

Posted 01-31-2010 at 11:37 AM by Real Fast Travis (The ramblings of a motorcycle rider)

Hey everybody, how's it going?

I have been enjoying the weather lately, did a decent ride last weekend, that's always good.

So on to the title. Last Sunday I rode to Portland, in the rain. Ya!

I learned a lot aboout my gear though.

I ride everyday to work, but I am not in the rain for long periods, so I haven't really tested my gear in the elements.

First..Helmet. I have been having problems with my helmet and visor. ...

Get the FUNK OUT!!!

That's right! I gotta get the funk out!, of my helmet that is!

I guess with the wet weather, and the fact that I store it in the helmet bag while at work, the wettness has caused some smells

Literally over nite! Put it on Friday morning for work, and damn! Of course I didn't have time to do anything about it, so I got to ride to work and back with that beautiful aroma!

The linner is curently laying out in front of the fireplace drying.

Ahhh....Riding!

Posted 01-13-2010 at 04:50 PM by Real Fast Travis (The ramblings of a motorcycle rider)

Well, it has been a while, but got to get out for a short ride Sunday!

I ride every day, and still enjoy pleasure rides. I can't wait till Spring/Summer.

I got to meet some members from PNW, that is always cool, and I must say, Monroe FJR did an awesome job of leading my ride. He definitely knows the backroads out that way, better than I do, I am glad he had no problem with leading.

Everyone rode very profesionally, a great...

Some random observations.

Posted 01-07-2010 at 06:27 PM by Real Fast Travis (The ramblings of a motorcycle rider)

I have kind of notice something recently with local motorcyclist.

In my neighborhood there is one in particular, seems to only ride when the weather is forecasted to be dry, no problem with that.

I would have guessed them to be new to riding, but that may not be the case.

Here is my beef, and I have seen others do this too.

Not using signals when turning, or changing lanes. California stops. Tailgating. I think you get the picture....

I can see clearly now...now I can't...now I can...now I can't. You get it.

So, here is the deal, my "anti-fog" visor worked for about a month, then it started fogging up. Not as bad as my plain visor would, but still it fogs.

Well, I figured since it wasn't working correctly anyhow, I would try some anti fog products. I know, I know, it isn't recommended, but what the hell, it isn't working right anyhow!

So the first test was with one of those...

Rain?

Posted 12-22-2009 at 07:23 PM by Real Fast Travis (The ramblings of a motorcycle rider)

I guess it is that time of year, everyone is talking about riding in the rain or cold.

First, let me say, I love the rain. It is what makes it so green in the Northwest. It is what gives us our great lakes and rivers and streams and awesome waterfalls!
It gives us the snow so we can ski. Ect., ect., I think you get my point.

Now, as for riding in it, ya, I hate it! Would rather ride in the cold than rain. The main thing I hate about it is the poor visibility,...
