I got a classic to restore this week.
It's a 1960 BSA C15 Star
250cc Single..
It'll be a load of work but it'll be fun..
First time out of the garage in 38 years!

Loaded up and going home.

| | OK, if you are unsure about what it should look like when you are done, how about this one? I'm lovin' it! ![]() |

| | Not a runner yet but I have high hopes.. It's been stored indoors for 38 years. I haven't found any rust to speak of.. It'll need a distributor and carb before we can try to fire it. |

| | Lets talk about first things first. Hasn't been run in 38 years. You have no idea why that is... There are very few parts out there if you trash the motor. Take it apart and see what condition it's in. This is a dry sump motor. That means that there is a check valve to prevent it from wet sumping. That is where the oil went. Then it turned to sludge. There is a sludge tube in the crank that will require cleaning before you fire this motor. That it the filter, if you will, that provides clean oil to the big end. It will be full of 38 year old munge. The oil pump will most likely need freshening as will the rings to get them unstuck. Start by getting a good manual. I have a couple you may look at and copy. Get a good set of Whitworth tools. You'll be needing them. |
