I Ride: Is it raining? Not the shiny one!
Anyone riding to Creekside this AM? I am thinking of a wet stroll. Someone has to get the photo tag anyway. J

Saturday Coffee (9/19) at Country Bakery?
Hi Everyone,

Those at this past Saturday's coffee were thinking about having our next one at the Country Bakery (26615 Peoria Road, seven miles north of Harrisburg) on Sept. 19th.

If you haven't tried this place yet, it is a bakery run by a Mennonite family and is only open Friday and Saturday from 7am-5pm. It is by far the best pastries I have ever had in my life (sorry grandma).

Let us all know if you're interested.

Not crazy about the ride, but the food must be better - I haven't had anything good at Creekside and have sworn off wasting any more $ there!

I agree, that's why we have breakfast at home and you'll see us at Creekside with our travel mugs. We moved from the 2nd St. Beanery for the location (quick exit for rides without having to go through town), parking and the lack of crowds as the Saturday Farmer's Market made any location downtown impractical.

No one has made any suggestions for another location so we have stayed at Creekside. Boiling frog syndrome.

What about the neighboring Le Patissier and The Beanery on Circle Blvd.? The Market of Choice will be going in the old Rite Aid building next year, that would give everyone three different choices in one central location.

We're not saying that the Country Bakery will be a regular meeting spot but Loretta has fantastic baked goods and would be good for an occasional ride.

Any and all suggestions for a new regular meeting spot are welcome, as well as staying at the Creekside. Speak up people.

Problem is they don't have seating - at least they didn't before they expanded last month...small motorcycle parking spot directly in front of their store, and one around the corner towards 3rd.

Well this was my first saturday coffee. I will probably only show for the social aspect and maybe the occasional pastry although another pastry or two and I will be in need of a tailor to let out the jacket alittle. I am all for mixing it up I just have one suggestion. Country bakery doesn't have seating so that location is weather permitting. Perfect for the nice cool crisp sub 40 mornings but not so much for the torentual down pours.
But Country bakery has my vote.

Jeremy

Country Bakery has my vote for next week, or whenever.

As a regular meeting spot, Creekside's biggest advantage IMHO is its proximity to gas.

Le Patissier would be a great spot too, and gas would be just around the corner. Not quite as convenient, but the great coffee and tasty pastries would make up for that!

Are we meeting at Creekside and then riding to the Country Bakery or are we posting a map and all meeting at the Country Bakery?

How about both?

Corvallis peeps can meet up for a ride if they want, and from that we can suggest a time for others to meet at the bakery.

Here's the info. I've made some executive decisions regarding the times because we haven't gotten any suggestions yet.

Tomorrow's coffee will be at Country Bakery (map). Let's say 10am for the meeting time.

If you'd like to ride in with a group from Corvallis, meet at Creekside Coffee at 9:30. Please be gassed up and ready to go.

See you for sure at Creekside or the bakery - haven't made up my mind yet! Looking forward to those delicious pastries ....

Rain Delay for Country Bakery?
Hey folks! It's almost 8am and looks like we're in for a nice morning rain shower. Do people want to just meet somewhere local instead, like Creekside or Le Patissier near Circle Blvd and Ninth Ave, where we can sit inside? The Country Bakery doesn't have indoor seating to accommodate a lot of people.

Let your voices be heard.

Question
If it's the bakery, I'll ride; if it's here in town, I'll drive. Just decide before 9 so I can be ready on time.

I am going to meet at Creekside (on my bike) as planned, then we can decide if it'll be the bakery, Le Patissier or wherever.

Just called the bakery - they DO have a gazebo to sit under, so we would not have to sit or stand around in the rain.

The bakery was great, albeit a little soggy. That wouldn't be a problem this week!

I say we go for the repeat performance.

How about New Morning for the winter?
OK, I'll jump in ... I think Creekside is good for riding weather - it's convenient, easy to get out of town, gas, etc. But, during the winter, New Morning downtown would be better - lots of seating, lots of parking across the street, great (inexpensive) coffee, tea, juices, and much better (and more) food.

What say?

Well, yes for now, but what about when its pouring rain and cold, and there's no comfortable place to sit inside to eat tired pastries?

Creekside is probably the best for meeting and then going on rides. The location is good there.

New Morning is the least desirable for meeting for rides, gas is not close by Thumper hates arco gas and so Misty has not had to suffer through a tank of the crap yet, so I don't count that as viable gas.

The other three are fairly close together and in the middle is the Chevron on Kings and Circle or even that station across from Fred Meyer. Since I'm moving to North Albany any of these are the easiest for me, actually even New Morning is a simple ride.

Do we want a place to sit outside in our gear or are we going to strip down and go inside?

Maybe we should try each one for a week or two and then decide. Or even just make it a rotation.

Let's not forget the ride to the Country Bakery, it is an enjoyable little trip. Enough to make it worth getting geared up for even if it is raining a bit. In fact the only issue I have with it is that by the time we get there the doughnuts are all gone, we need to leave earlier.

Winter!!!!
Guys, if you read my posts about New Morning, you will note that it was suggested for WINTER ONLY. Is there some reason why we should meet in a place that's expensive, too small, with little choice of munchies at a time when we won't be going on rides or (dare I say it) even riding bikes when it's pouring/freezing/foggy or a combination of all of them?
