DC, we didn't see you at Saturday coffee, hopefully you'll be up for a ride to Wednesday's Bike Night. Some at coffee brought their new 'bikes' for show and tell.

Yeah, staying in bed with a book seemed like a better idea.

Weather looks great for Wednesday, hopefully I'll make it to bike night!

LaPisser on Circle got the most votes in the poll...

Looks like it's gonna be a stellar day for a ride!

...HEAVY PRECIPITATION EXPECTED FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY...

AN UNUSUALLY WET EARLY SEASON SYSTEM IS EXPECTED TO DUMP
SEVERAL INCHES OF RAIN OVER THE AREA EARLY THIS WEEKEND. THE BULK
OF THE RAIN WILL FALL ON FRIDAY NIGHT AND SATURDAY AS THE SYSTEM

THE FRONT ONSHORE AND THEN STALLING IT. AS THE FRONT STALLS THE
SYSTEM WILL USHER IN A LOT OF WARM AND MOIST AIR AND CONSEQUENTLY
WRING IT OUT OVER NORTHWEST OREGON AND SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON.
RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED TO BE 2 TO 5 INCHES IN THE
COAST RANGE...1 TO 2 INCHES NORTHERN PORTIONS OF WILLAMETTE
VALLEY...2 TO 4 INCHES NORTH CASCADES...AND AROUND AN INCH
ELSEWHERE.

O RLY? Are Giselle and Tyra NWS certified?

I kid, I kid... sorry, this cold medicine is affecting my humor.

Anyway, my Rukka laughs in the face of torrential rain. Though it does make me look like a firefighter. God, I'm such a gear snob! I guess this also means I'm riding on Saturday.

Saturday Morning meeting place
I'm tired of messing around with this issue of where to meet. I propose that from November 28 through April 14, we meet at the New Morning Bakery. This is enough notification to ensure that folks know about the change. The Saturday Market finishes on Nov 21 and restarts on April 21 and therefore will not be operating between those dates, meaning no problems parking, with traffic, etc. I suggest this for several reasons: 1) good food; 2) inexpensive food; 3) lots of parking; 4) lots of rearrangeable seating inside; 5) pleasant surroundings; 6) few will be riding during the winter, and in any case, if so many show up at American Dream for bike nite and the frequent rides before or after, how can folks complain about New Morning which is across the street?

Awaiting flames ...

For this next Saturday morning coffee, 10/17, I'm going to try Le Patissier/Beanery on Circle, 9 - 10 am. All are welcome to join!

Riding or caging? I'm really hoping to make it this time - La Pisser has awesome Napoleons!

If it’s doable I’ll ride, otherwise I’ll be in a cage (with ‘other’ bike in hand). Right now I’ve got sun with cloud breaks, no rain; maybe it will hold thru tomorrow morning.

Coffee Report
Good group this morning, kudos to the people that rode in. My take on Le Patissier would be a) good coffee b) good pastries c) not so good outside seating when more than six people show up. But I’m game for another round.

You got to love the rain today! It was actually pretty fun running the ‘Autobahn’ & the Alsea curves in a hard down pour; it’s a good chance to push the tires a little to see what makes them slip (a little). You just got to keep thinking to yourself “….English GP race, Island of Mann, English GP race, Island of Mann….”

Le Patissier?
Ditto. Inadequate seating in and out, poor parking availability. Not a good spot, especially in winter.

Another idea ...
How about Java Connection at 1640 Main in Philomath? There's good inside seating and the parking is never crowded. They also have pastries, coffee and stuff. The only drawback is having to drive around the block (thank you Philomath City and ODOT!), but maybe there's a way to avoid it. I'll check.

Hmm, I'd try it. Plus, I have seen groups of bikes gathered there.

You can enter Java Connection from behind Thriftway. Turn south on 19th (at the light on 20/34) then go right on Applegate, then right again on 17th.

Two options to get into Java Connection. Turn left on 19th, Right on Applegate, Right on 17th and left into the Java Connection/High 5 Parking lot.

Option 2 Turn Left in to the Thriftway parking lot, exit the west end of the lot, cross the street into the side lot for Java Connection/High 5 Sportsbar.

Or turn Right into the front lot if you are coming from the West!

I'm out of town the next two weekends (portland this weekend, Disneyworld the next) so I will look forwarding to hearing where you all land on Nov. 7th.

Getting to Java Connection
Rick is right. I can add that when you cross the street from the Thriftway lot, you will see three driveways - take the middle one, between the mail boxes. It goes behind Java C, up the side, and then to the front. Otherwise you will not be able to get to the front, but will either be stuck near the ballet school or have to park behind the sports bar.

Sounds like it is the Java Connection next week.

MAP

It is right across the street from Jonas' shop...which just quadrupled our parking.

Well since I go for the company and not so much the coffee, Java works fine. But if you like strong coffee, the kind you can almost chew (I do), Java isn't the place for it. Just have them spike your coffee with a shot of espresso if you want something you can sink your teeth into. For the the coffee wimps though, you'll like their coffee.

I have to agree with fred on this one, the coffee was weak as cricket piss and the pastry selection was mediocre at best, (although Ducatichick's sandwich looked good). We sat inside and it was loud as we all talked over the noisy steamer behind the counter. I wouldn't be in any hurry to go back, but as fred said it is the company so anywhere is fine with me.

We talked about trying the Coffee Culture on Kings Blvd. next week.
