So, I have an idea for everyone. I live in Independence, OR and I know the guys that are in charge of the 4th of July fireworks and celebration.

Idea: having a bike day at the river front park in Independence and a competition/show of all the bikes on Sunday July 5th. Independence is only about 15-20 min. west of Salem.

-Riders would register (perhaps just simply sending an e-mail with bike make, riders name) so we could have a # for the bike and some idea of how many we'd have
-Have a wide open parking lot for everyone to park and show off their sweet rides
-Have people vote on the best 3 bikes
- 1st prize, perhaps up to $300 in gear from Cycle gear, of their choice (maybe more if we get a lot of interest.
- 2nd $100 in gear purchases
- 3rd $50 in gear purchases

We'd try to get sponsors to be there, have music going, food will be there for everyone to get lunch (at your own cost, not free), and perhaps peeps like Red Bull and who knows what else. I just had a discussion and am throwing out ideas.

What I need is if people think this might be a cool event to go to, is reply and say so. I think it would be a cool event to get a large amount of riders together to meet, hang out, and see some awesome bikes Anyone from any area would be welcome, Salem, Eugene, Corvallis/Albany, Portland,...anywhere!

This is a first year event so it would just be trying to get it off the ground!

The event will be from 10am-2pm Sunday July 5th at the Independence Riverview park.

Free to anyone and all bikes are welcome. Including: Motorcycles, Trikes, Scooters, etc. Ride in only please since we don't have room for trailers.

There will be a public vote for 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place for the best looking motorcycles. So far it looks like 1st prize will be of $200 value, 2nd of $75, and 3rd of $50

There will also be some door prizes that will be raffled off for those that are early risers

. Anyone that shows up from 10am-11am will have a receive a raffle ticket.

I spoke with Team Oregon and they are wanting to come down to the show, also Women in the Wind has an interest. More to come!

Remember, the show is free to anyone. Register your bike at the show or just come by to see the motorcycles.

So, due to the budget not being humungeous... the prizes values will be as follows:

1st........$100 value
2nd........$75 value
3rd.........$50 value still awesome for a free show if you ask me

I'm working right now to get Cycle Sport to sponsor the event. That means possibly 2 different sets of prizes, one fore sports and one for cruisers. Cross the fingers!!!!!

Just an update, the bike show will be in the parking lot of the Riverview park in Independence, downtown. Take B St. down to the lower end of the park and that's where we'll be. It'll be in the sun, but the asphalt is pretty hard so kickstands should be good, although if yours is prone to digging into the pavement a piece of wood wouldn't hurt

Any motorcycle you want to bring! It's a public vote for the winners.

I have no idea on numbers, just did as much publicity as I could come up with and we'll see who shows.

I do need some thing from everyone....I need some ideas as to criteria we should guide people for on the voting. Just some guidance so when someone drools on the pretty chrome or MODs they can have some ideas.

Any ideas would be great!!!!

Just some thoughts off the web...

FULL CUSTOM: Any make or year custom motorcycle with major changes such as Engine, Frame, Front End. Includes completely fabricated bikes.
MILD CUSTOM: Any make or year custom with original Engine, Frame, Front End.
MANUFACTURED CUSTOM: Any Custom bike built by a franchised company. Examples include but not limited to Harley, Bourget, CMC, etc.
STREET STOCK: Any factory stock street bike.
STREET PERFORMANCE: Any Performance Oriented street bike. Must be licensed.
CLASSIC: Any make motorcycle, 1960 or later. Minor changes allowed.
ANTIQUE: Any make motorcycle, pre 1960. Near stock.
TOURING: Any make or year touring motorcycle. Must have hard bags and/or windshield. Changes allowed.
TRIKE: Any three wheeled vehicle.

I'm excited to see all who attend, no matter what you ride or from where just come on by and hang out. There's some pretty cool places to ride in the valley too, plenty of us locals to ask where to ride too.

Thanks to Brandon, Rick and all who put the show together. My wife, step daughter and the Grand daughter came down and voted on bikes. Ok, not the Grand baby she is to little to care (Yet). Gramndpa will have her riding as soon as she is able. Motorcyclist the next generation.

Thanks to everyone that came down to the show today!! Thanks especially to Brad, Brandy, and Rick for coming up early to give a hand with set up, and all those who hung around for the show.

We had about 50 bikes enter the show and approx. another 75-100 throughout the show coming in and out! I got lots of compliments and people really liked the show, it added something to the day down in the park.

Keep an eye out next year for the show, bigger and better

Wow...50 bikes for a first year show? As someone who has put on car shows in the past that is a very impressive number. Looks like a lot of fun. I'm for sure there next year. Congrats again on a success!

Looks like a great show and a really good turn out. Sorry I missed it but it was the wife's birthday and so I spent it with her camping. By the time we got back into town it would have been too late for me to get there.

Hopefully next time around I'll be able to make it.

As someone who has put on car shows in the past that is a very impressive number. Looks like a lot of fun. I'm for sure there next year. Sorry I missed it but it was the wife's birthday and so I spent it with her camping. By the time we got back into town it would have been too late for me to get there.
