What did you think of Honda's DN-01 motorcycle?
Did anyone sit on this? What did you think of the 2009 Honda DN-01 motorcycle?

Let me just put together an emotional chronological timeline as words just really don't describe how i feel

Wow, I can't believe that more than one person actually thought this would be a good idea and signed off on it...

The beginning of the end for Honda

Electric? Wait what? I thought it was just a hydraulic pump automatic transmission? The HFT as I recall.

I thought it looked more like a used tampon than a motorcycle

Did anyone notice how far the mirrors were compared to the way they are on sportbikes. They were distant, yet were some of the best mirrors I've ever looked through.

Also, after Brady pointed it out, and I sat back on it, it would not move forward/back at all, like the motor had the bike stopped, so I wonder how easy it would be to stick it in neutral and just push it back and forth when needed.

Yeah, I don't think it's electric. It has an 680cc Vtwin and an automatic tranny. It had a parking brake also which was kind of interesting. It's Honda's way of combining a cruiser and a sport tourer. For a price in the low teens I think I will pass, though.

The parking brake might have been engaged. On the right hand side there was a black lever tucked right near the fairing.

I think it will be every bit as successful as the Pacific Coast!

At nearly $15K, with the economy tanking, I think it will be a bust.

There are some photos somewhere of me sitting on this machine. My original thought was that it was a newer crossover that wasn't bad looking (until I learned that it was a scooter and saw it in person), and from there I wasn't totally taken by it.

Then again Honda really lost my interest this year. They got rid of the normal metal gas tank and went the other route and made a plastic style that covers the gas tank. (Yes I know to save weight, but still I don't care for it.) Then the rearsets were set one way and they make you have your feet planted as if on the track and I'm sure that some people would find it uncomfortable about a fair amount of time. Just my opinion.

the DN 01 is actually a scooter from what the Honda guys were telling me and what the broshure stated. Just made to look more like a bike.... I guess. It will definately sell just cause it's so "wierd".

Sitting on it reminded me of being in a Prius dash way forward and mirrors were about the same size but it is butt ugly and not all that comfortable to me

I think it's not bad. I like that Aprilia and Honda are appealing to the majority of the USA that can not operate a manual transmission. Pathetic, but true. It is different and not my style, but looks better than that heavy, ugly pastel Monster copy that Suzuki mutated the naked SV into!

It's the ugliest piece of shit every put into production. It might dethrone the Pontiac Aztec. Looks like a concept bike from the 80s.

The platic tank cover has been around for a while on the Honda's.

I Intentionally avoided most of the Honda/Yam/Kawi booths - already seen all that sh*t.

Too much money. A cross between a Sport bike and a scooter. Needs a Bigger engine.

Hey Beans, where is the pic you took of me sitting on this beast? I was planning to race one next year, but oddly there aren't any race parts available yet

I think the idea is awesome.
comfey, sport touring, cruiser
great ergo's

styling is kinda like it's the bastard offspring of a gangrape by Judge Dredd, a sportbike, and a PC-800 (maybe a little Shark Spunk mixed in there too)

I wonder if honda will commission a cool helmet for it

my biggest problem with it (other than the auto tranny)
is the price

it's a cool bike (styling a little edgy for mainstream)
but way too expensive

(you can get an FJR auto for less)
