I'm dying to see how my bike handles now that it has a front alloy wheel that isn't shaped like a potato chip!

If it IS dry, I'm in. This past rainy week I did some more work on my VFR, further dialing it in by raising the rear over 20mm to get a decent ride height. The fellow who had it before me certainly had some 'different' setting ideas for this bike. It's takien me a bit of time to find all the weird things he did, but I am getting it right.

I have got my fingers crossed for no rain... we'll see how much good it will do.

Don: what year VFR do you have? I just picked up a 02 on Monday.

Sorry, im going to have to miss this one. Hopefully selling the green machine to pick up a dirt bike (HOPEFULLY a dual sport). Orange fenders, knobbies and smoke may herald the Murdercycle next time we ride....

Still at the Petite Province? When is the normal arrival time these days? It's been a while since I've been able to enjoy an SMC with you folks!

I have the 2000 model without V-tech and with the gear-driven cams. Overall, it's a very nice peice of engineering. My particular one?...it's 'rough' but sound..Silver rattle-can paint, funky screaming eagle decal covering a fractured fairing, mainly used before me as a Portland freeway flyer, I think. I am a bit surprised at how it rides...for a semi-big bike, a somewhat heavy sport-tourer, it does good. Me like, so far.

How was the turn-out for yesterday?

My Sat. ride was the reverse of what we did last week, essentially, with a 4pm start after spending the morning on some more needed bike refinements. I got the rear ride height closer to good, discovered my front tire is 6yrs old, took out my 'flush the motor' oil and replaced that with the good stuff. I also found that one of my rodent neighbors (We have squirrels in our barn) had literally filled my airbox with horse feed oat pellets...I'm surprised it even ran last week..amazing a few lbs of oats on the outside of air filter element even allowed the motor to run...

It was enjoyable to ride in warmer temps and on cleaner pavement. I did have one 'tense' corner about half way down Canyon Rd. when I encountered lots of gravel, mid-corner, at a pretty substantial pace...I saw clean pavement just ahead so I stood her up for the grit, then finished the corner with room to spare...(lesson? On public roads, leave a little 'in reserve')

The bike is getting better each week. The rust is coming off my riding skills, too.
Ya! Spring....

Only the hard core riders showed, it was too cold for most. Did not ride after SMC as I had too much to do around the house. Friday I did install my new bash plate than did Skyline, three mile and five mile.

Squirrels????
Hey Don! If those squirrels are giving you a hard time, send me a PM and I'd be glad to "take care of them" if you know what I mean Oats in the airbox kinda sounds like pack-rats, though. Make sure they didn't leave oats, and steal wires off your bike. They like to "trade". I've seen them steal all the spark plug wires off of parked trucks!

I didn't make it to SMC yesterday , but there sure were a lot of bikes on the road all day! The only ride I got in was to TD for mower parts! Hwy 30 was infested with bicycles. I just love how when they hear you coming, they get IN your way instead of out of it! (damn hippies)

Bicyclists are to motorcycles as motorcycles are to 4-wheelers.

Treat them like you'd like to be treated... ( we motorcyclists are sometimes treated poorly by those stupid Cage drivers who you see heading towards you on a 2 lane behind a slower car.....they stick their nose out to pass, see you coming on your moto and dart back in.....for a second....you can almost hear the loose screws going round in their brains...."Heck, that was only a motorcycle, he'll get out of the way if I go ahead and pass...." and then they come right back out and come on around the car, forcing you off the road or at least way over...) Just cause they're on a pedal bike doesn't mean they don't count....Like we sometimes are treated like we don't count to 4wheel drivers...

I AM one of those bike-hippies, quite often. I must say that some of my fellow bicyclists are pretty stupid when it comes to moving over to the right when they should...especially those who come out this way to the Gorge and think they are "all alone" on the roads, after riding mostly downtown in the cities where there's a constant stream of traffic...It pisses me off when I encounter a group riding 2 or 3 abreast, talking away, too busy or too arrogant to move aside for traffic. Some of my farmer friends out on 15 Mile/8 Mile, they comment on how they used to be OK with bicycles, but lately they are pretty pissed at the Road Hog Sunday Chatterboxes who are starting to clog up the lanes for no real reason...

Here is something to consider: Bicycles can swerve very quickly and unexpectedly, and sometime they do that to avoid broken glass or potholes....So when you are passing one at a high rate, give em as much room as you can. If one swerves into your line, it would be more painful than hitting a deer or a turkey.

Yeah, I heard that you were a bike hippy! That's why I had to pop off at the mouth about them Most of them are ok, it's just the idiots who stick out. Kinda like motorcyclists!

I ordered my dual sport kit for the new to me (rough and abused) KTM, would anyone be interested in a dual sport Saturday Morning ride? Sometime this spring/summer?

Im thinking we do some paved twisties to mosier, then old dalles road, then post canyon???

Also its a two smoker!!!! but with a smallish gas tank....may be annoying for the longer rides (gotta mix gas)

Edit: and yes, the ratty zx6r is gone sadly...

I do The Old Dalles road from The Dalles on a regular basis. I'm in for that ride or others.
