Kind of creeps me out. I went out for a short ride yesterday morning, about 80 miles round trip, and I saw at least 15 deer crossing or just on the side of the road. |

| Pit Crew Joined: Apr 2006 From: Spokane, WA I Ride: Suzuki DL1000 | There is a theory that all motorcyclists will be killed by striking a deer. The trick is to die of old age first. Or by rolling your kayak through half an Eskimo roll and drowning, Turtle. RIP to the poor soul who didn't make it. Dave T. |

Also a loose fitting helmet can come off fairly easy especially if the chin strap is not snuggly in place. Deer are a real threat because there are so many of them. One of my employees hit a bear on his way to work one morning, killing the bear and making the front of his ford pickup look like he had his a train. All wildlife creates a danger to Motorcyclist. RIP Rider. |

Several weeks ago, while driving through West Olympia on Mud Bay Road, a deer launched itself in an arc through the air right into my lane of travel. It looked like one of Santa's reindeer when it suddenly appeared in the air in front of me. Where did it come from? From behind some tall shrubs on a sloped/landscaped bank at a medical service complex adjacent to the road. She launched from the upper part of the banked slope, about the level of my head. I was caught completely by surprise. Oh yeah: I missed the deer by a couple of feet. Fortunately, she landed, had decent footing, and kept on going. |
