Route ?'s....
Wasn't sure which Ore., sub forum to post in but I am looking for input on a route through the great state of Ore.

The only thing I ever get noid about is running out of fuel and I'm not familiar with the area. Opinions on roads, conditions, where to get fuel etc., would be appreciated

Brian, how comfortable do you feel riding between fuel stops? There are quite a few along that route.

If I know there are fuel stops for sure I do allright, until the light starts blinking. Seriously though it stresses me out.

I guess that is my one phobia if will when going on a long ride. I (we) came as close as one could to walking last year.

Oly that looks like a fun route. Your first fuel stop would be in Detroit, and your second in Oakridge, 113 miles later. After that 60 miles to Chemult, then onto your destination. If I could give one route variance, make a detour to Sisters via hwy 20/126 and take 242 back to your north/south route south of Belknap Springs. It would add 39 miles but it would be worth it imo.

Nope

242 is closed for at least another month

But, you should be able to hang a right at Crescent Lake and come out at Diamond Lake, shaving off about 50 miles to Crater Lake on NFD 60 - confirm with the ranger district that it's still paved

Damn near impossible to ride any paved road west of the Rockies and go 100 miles or more between gas stations. Closest I came was Highway 375 in Nevada in 1994, 140 miles...that was before there was gas at Rachael, and I get about 150 miles per tank when touring. Certainly never came close in Oregon, lived there for 25 years.

If it concerns you, get a gps.
