that's after waiting for your 52hp to get to the twisties (and waiting for your fuel stops every hour or so)

If HP is so meaningless, why did you spend untold hundreds(thousands?) of dollars turning your 33hp tard into a 52hp tard?

Well...you got me there.
But I still contend that dyno numbers are just numbers.
The real issue is what you gained on the same dyno.
Most people use dyno numbers as bragging rights.

Nice numbers! Though I'm thinking that "100 shot" is a bit conservative: with your mods you should be in the 360-370rwhp range without the juice. We need to get together, I've been wanting to run another GTO! Tired of mauling the Mustangs, 350 & 370Z's, Mazda

2 tons? not quite, try 3720 pounds for the GTO. You must be thinking of the new Challengers, Chargers, and 300C's (all are 4100 pounds or heavier). Even the new Camaro is heavier at 3850lbs. Want rice?
'05 GTO = 3720lbs Rated hp: 400 EPA rated fuel economy: 17/25
'07 Nissan 350Z = 3400lbs Rated hp:313 EPA rated fuel economy: 17/23
'09 Mazda RX8 = 3030lbs Rated hp: 232 EPA rated fuel economy: 16/22
Honda S2000 = 3050lbs Rated hp: 237 EPA rated fuel economy: 18/25
'08 WRX STI = 3395lbs Rated hp: 305 EPA rated fuel economy: 17/23
'08 Acura Type S= 3558lbs Rated hp: 286 EPA rated fuel economy: 17/26
Lexus IS-F = 3780lbs Rated hp: 416 EPA rated fuel economy: 16/23

and a topdog German car:
'09 BMW M3 = 3704lbs Rated hp: 420(really 450+) EPA: 14/20

Point is, name me a midsize Asian import that makes 400hp or more, weighs less, gets better mileage, and is faster than the GTO? How about just beating 3 of those 4 items? The IS-F is close on paper, though I easily beat one on I-5. There is a few from Europe, including the V8 BMW M3 that I included for reference.

Every single car you named handles better that the goat. In fact, with exception of the C5-Z06/C6, America doesn't even make a car that handles worth a damn.

It's funny because your concept of "fast" involves a straight line, a couple timing lights, and ZERO turns. Let's look at Nürburgring times and THEN we'll determine what is faster.

I doubt it, what is your best lap time around PR? But D Rail is wrong, corner speed is not where bikes beat cars, it's on acceleration and a straighter line though turns because they are so much narrower. The GTO would beat most bikes on a skid pad because of greater contact patch, if someone where wacky enough to try it on a bike, but on a road course (with long straights) or strip, most powerful sport bikes would win.

You conveniently forgot evos, and stis. The could smoke your car stock for stock in a straight line, and it gets more embarrassing when you start modding. I've driven a 6.0 gto, and the torque was cool, but do me a favor. Go drive a STOCK evo IX. Those cars RIP! And we all know handling is not the gtos cup of tea, so we'll leave that out of the equation. Also, supras, and rx7s would take your cars as well, but they were a little more pricey.

Soooo pry a 280lb dude in there (which is usually the case), what do you get?

Here this should help... I'll wait..

This doesn't weigh less, but it's WAY cooler! Faster than the GTO with 2 less pistons, and almost half the displacement.

Too much for what? For smoking Porsches and Ferraris all day long? Nope. It does that quite well.

The STi's are a little doggy compared to the evo, but their target market is for people who don't want a ragged car like the evo. The STi is far more refined. But who wants that when you can get an evo rs with roll-up windows, no ac, no power locks, no cd player, and no carpet in the trunk?

What ferraris can the r35 smoke? Also, still can't touch the c6 z06 around a track or straight line. If it weighed less, that would be a different story. Don't get me wrong, what nissan has done with a 2 ton car is incredible, but any way you slice it, it's still a 2 ton car.
Weight is the worst thing against performance. It increases brake pad and tire wear exponentially, it's more to turn, stop, and accelerate, and it still makes less power then the c6 z06.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N%C3%BCrburgring_lap_times

The fact that a 90k car is even within 10 seconds of those Supercars is insane (ps - those cars don't weigh 2 tons!)... I think its got some go in it.

Funny, I don't see the GTO in there anywhere. :confused

Actually, I can take you for a ride in my GTO. I cured the main handling and traction problem: I put street/strip stickies on it. World of difference! Matter of fact, 2 weeks ago I put a WRX into the dirt when he tried to keep with me through the twisty section at the end of Seattle Hill Rd. Luckily for him his AWD saved him from meeting the hill face, but he still ended up spun out. lol The car handles very well, thank you.

Why the hostility? Is this a handling thread and I missed it?? When it comes to cars, how great they handle is a friggin joke: without going to a track, only the most hardcore guys are ever going to tackle corners on the street. Leave the "Best handling car" junk for the Europeans. In America, in the real world, races are almost always straight lines. Period.

Bite me: Express Lanes FTW! I've raced dozens of cars so far, from a stop, slow roll, and on the freeway, only losing to a modded Supra. Killed BAD 2 WRX's, and a STi (2009 model), and even barely took out a heavily modded WRX STi clone Forester. "Biggest turbo I could put on it" he told me, along with a massive intercooler hanging below his bumper. Went at it 4 times, including from a 15mph roll (he even got on it first, but spun his TIRES and I pulled him). Besides my brothers IROC and the aforementioned Supra, that Forester was the closest race I've had.

The GTO would beat most bikes on a skid pad because of greater contact patch, if someone where wacky enough to try it on a bike, but on a road course (with long straights) or strip, most powerful sport bikes would win.
Couldn't agree more.

And we all know handling is not the gtos cup of tea, so we'll leave that out of the equation. Also, supras, and rx7s would take your cars as well, but they were a little more pricey.
Read my above post.
