Ok so When i bought my ZX9r it had the Metzler M-1's on it so im going to replace them as they just suck ass.. front pushes out, crappy tip in and feedback, and piss poor mileage. I dont mind bad mileage if atleast im getting some performance out of the tire but the metz;s have failed miserably.. Ive owned and really like th Michi PP's but id like some feedback onto what you guys have tried and really like.. Guys who have used the Michi PP's and are now using something better in the same price range would be awesome!! Thanks in advance guys!! |

You'll be mixing compounds and tread patterns....blah blah blah. Tire talk commence. Anyway, I just put Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa's on my bike, after having the Dragon Supercorsas. I loved the Dragons, they were sticking, yet gave excellent feedback at the same time. GREAT tires. I got the Diablos (take-off's mind you), and after I got them "street temp" I took a hard right hander getting onto the freeway and goosed the throttle in 1st gear. I did not feel one tiny bit of slip....not at all. Took the long way home, on a nice back road, and the tires performed amazingly. Tip in is very fast, and they hold the road like no other tire I have experienced. Probably won't be the best for mileage or rain, but wow what a great tire. Medium compound rear (SC2) and soft compound front (SC1). They are going for about 239 for the rear, but HERE is one on ebay. |

There are so many aspects to how many miles a set of tires will get. What PSI you run, the power of the bike, how you ride, all that. These were my quali's after the 2nd track day if it helps at all, still significant tread left. I'm pretty confident I can get at least 4000 street miles from them but we'll see, probably much less after another track day. I'm more concerned about uneven wear. My left side is gonna be way worse then the right riding SCR This was 200 total track miles in 2 days. Given I'm a n00b out there so your results may vary. The tearing wore off pretty easily after some street riding ![]() ![]() |

They will always have tread left in the center, and plenty on the edges of the tire. Time of year will be the only deciding factor as to whether or not they will work for you or not. At $40-100 per set, compared to $350+ on any new brand puts them at a bargain. I usually get around 2000 miles out of any set of tires, it does not matter if they are street or take-offs. The race tires have amazing turn in accuracy and lean traction-in July and August. In October, they will need some careful warm up time. just don't ride then. |

| Training Wheels | if you get the 2cts pp they will last alot longer than the single compound instead of 3k you could get 6 or 7k. i got sold the regular pp and the rear lasted 2k and my bike is heavy at 535 full of fuel. if i run the 2ct ican get almost 8k. i love this tire! |

Do you ride in the rain at all? Are you looking for highway millage? Do track days? The quali's are great for me, may not be for you. All depends what you're looking for. |

| Zone Head Joined: Feb 2008 From: Portland, Oregon I Ride: '07 GSXR-750 | there are a number of factors that affect tire wear. Tire pressure. Road Surface, Ground Temps, suspension, hp of bike, weight of bike, riding style (hard braking, hard throttle on corner exit etc) IMHO the best bang for the buck on tires is DOT race take-offs. For about $100 a set you can get some with alot of life left in them. Their only downside is they dont do very well in cold temps or wet roads. even then they do suprisingly well if you know how to ride them. I have had good luck with Michelins. I had had the regular Pilot Powers and the 2CT's. Didnt notice much performance difference between the 2 but the 2cts definitley did not last as long as the regular pp's my olnly experience with bridgestone were the stock tires on my GSXR and I did not like them at all... My only experience with Pirelli were the old style Dragon Supercorsas and I absolutely love them! stick great, good mileage and do suprisingly well on cold/wet roads. when people say "oh I got crazy good mileage from X tires" or "x tires wore out quick" you need to take the factors into consideration that may have give them that experience as it may not be the same for you. |

Metzler m1s are blah, M3's rock (had them), and the Z6-it's are good sporty tourers. had old diablo's, didn't like them much pilots have them and like them, some say the front goes from grip to lowside without feedback though. Bridgestoners and Dunslops next on the to try list. i've run m1/m3 combos fine, wouldn't attempt a m1/power combo, the profiles are too different buy for what you plan on using the tire for, there's a lot of good tires out there, some are just brand loyal. take-offs is another option and way to try different makes | |

| Moderator ![]() | ![]() The OP has a ZX9.... that bike is no slouch.. Here are a couple pics of my last two tires. The top tire is a Qualifier with right at 2350 miles, including one 120 mile track day. The bottom tire is a Pilot Power with just over 3000 street miles... about 250 too many IMO.. but regardless, the PP outlasted the Qualie; ![]() ![]() I am really hoping the 016's will outlast either of these.. They stick well, maybe not quite as good as the Qualifiers, but damn close. |

Yes, I've ridden with all these tires, done trackdays with all these tires. Granted, on a 600.... P.S. the BT-002's kick ass, as well, but wear dramatically faster than 016's on the street Last edited by MCA8690; 07-04-2009 at 06:48 PM.. |

I'm pretty sure they are flippable. Plus Uhwun I just bought 2 sets of Diablo Supercorsa Take-Off's for 100 bucks each. They had between 10 and 20 LAPS on them. I will get about 6000 miles out of the two sets, so.....probably worth it, since I just had to take of the Dragon S.C's after about 4200 total miles on new tires. |

| MotoGP Contender | I am curious how people are getting more miles out of their 2CT's than the standard power since Michelin claims that the center compound remained the same and they put a softer compound on the edges. |

On the street....the tires get flat spots....and I won't go fast enough to push them to the limit on the edges. With these new pirelli's I don't even struggle with feedback or feel. The Power's feel wooden in comparison. I can only imagine track performance. |

He's done a track day and over a 1000 street miles and they look great. His bike is an older one which runs a 180 rear tire. Make sure you get the right tire for your bike. I think in 00 they went from the 5.5" to the 6.0" wheel in the rear. And started putting a 190 rear tire on. I think my next set of tires for the 12r will be BT-016's. |
