I Ride: RRRRRRRRRRR6S woot woot!
How often does this happen to you?
I'm just goin for a short 20 mile ride today and I had the following:

A guy in a van completely cut me off and flip me off for absolutely no reason.

A guy in a camaro pull up next to me at a light and rev the crap out of his engine and "challenge me"..(I laughed and rode off very slow..lol)

Another guy in a Acura Integra turbo come up next to me on the freeway and do the same thing as the guy with the camaro.

Is this something to expect for a while? LOL

get used to it. last year a guy driving a new nissan xterra or something rolled up next to me and tried to do the same thing at a stop light. i let the light turn green and he floored it. I gave him the intersection and ripped on the throttle. He wasn't too pleased seeing me fly by him laughing as he got passed by a street bike. (I don't condone it, but it was a safe area and I didn't do any wheelies or anything off the line. Just steady acceleartion).

The worst is the SQUID on the 1100 whachamacallit in shorts taunting you on the freeway and then taking off in frustration cus you don't take his bait. Usually this involves stand up wheelies or dodging cars at 100+mph...

totally had that happen particularly memorably once...i had arranged a ride to a bike night somewhere in seattle i believe...and we were takin the freeway to get across lake washington and some guy in shorts flip flops and no shirt pulls up next to the group and looks over at us and pulls a wheelie...and takes off at ~90-100mph...normally by the time i get to my destination i have forgotten all the retarding things people have done on the way there...but that one i particularly remembered cause of his idiocy...

Yeah I've noticed that a lot of people that are at a stop sign and if I have the right away or if I was there first they will just go first anyway. Or if I don't have a stop sign and someone else does they "creep out" as I'm coming..it's quite irritating. LOL

I Ride: Harley
Today I am putting thru a thick traffic parking lot, in front of best buy, this gal in a Chevy Tahoe is on the phone pulling out from my left.
I see her looking at me, I get right in front of her and she takes off then slams the breaks, squeeling her tires, so she dont hit me, then FLIPS ME OFF. I go on she is behind me, I WATCH her close, about 6-8 miles later she turns off, I am running 50 in a 35 lots of cross roads, some dude in a nissan PU slides up 10 feet behind me, I should pull over and let him go but, Fuck it, I use the throttle instead. and yep, my piece of shit Harley can outrun a datsun pu.
I love riding in the country, I hate going to work in Tacoma.

I usually ignore idiots like that..

Had a Ferrari F430 do that about a week ago though on the highway. I had NO intention of ignoring that, but he got off at the next ramp.. Gave me quite a few nice throttle blips as he left Sounded beautiful.. Good thing too; two cops just chilling just over the rise. At a stoplight tho? There are VERY few cars that are going to take you out of a light I don't see the point.. I'm generally MR OMFG STOP RIDING LIKE A FUCKING DOUCHEBAG ON THE STREET but when an exotic pulls up I give chase just to hear the exhaust

Get a different helmet. Something bright. A big chunk of your problem is that you're riding a black motorcycle with a black/gray/dark silver helmet (avatar pic) and your leathers are probably black also.

Trust me on this one... I never got cut off more then on my black GSXR750 w/ all black gear. You need something which will cause you as the rider to visually pop out as a person, rather then a silhouette which is part of a black motorcycle.

There's all kinds of idiots out there. A guy I used to work with was one of them. The crazy squid-guy? Yeah. He rode a newer 750 gsx-r and apparently my 600 was a "girls bike."

So he did smart things like trying to bait me as he passed me on the way to work...by doing lane-splitting wheelies between two cars. Brilliant. Oh, and did I mention he was wearing just jeans and a sweatshirt? Yeah, I don't play like that... I let him go his merry way...

Much truth there! Couple of days ago my eyes were drawn to the highway where someone in all yellow riding gear was on a bright yellow Suzuki V-Strom. No way could anyone miss this guy and his bike, it was like sunrise riding by at 70 mph...

Happened to me last weekend - was stuck behind a baby blue "hot rod" (think ZZ-top). I patiently waited until the next legal passing zone when I heard his big v8 crank up. No way was he gonna leave me in a cloud of fumes so I gave the throttle a good crank. My bike is not built for drag racing so I had to work at it a bit - finally got around the guy at 110. Fucking idiot got passed by a girl.

Fixed it for you

One of the bennies of riding a ZX14 and being my size? Cars rarely ever don't see me, and ricers or exotics almost never try to race me. That "ZX 14" badge tells them this aint no possibly slow 90's era 600 that they have a shot against. makes it nice actually, because it seemed like every sport bike rider and ricer I came across on the freeway seemed to want to race me when I owned my TL1000R.

lol so now i'm in my car on my way to work...i'm a road where the speed limit is 55 mph. there is a 2 way stop coming up (I don't need to stop). I'm crusin at about 60 and I can see a car starting to creep out at the stop sign...i'm thinking no way is this lady gonna pull out cuz i'm like right on top of her...sure enough i look at the lady and she looks to her left but does NOT ONE TIME look to her right...and pulls right out in front of me...i slammed my brakes and had to pass her..if i had been on the bike....i think it would have been very bad. but i would have also slowed waaaaaaay down if i was on a bike. so it's happening a lot lately! People just can't drive sometimes. lol

a couple of weeks ago me and me brother went out for a shakedown ride on his '88 ninja 1000r(had just been rebuilt by Felony Flyers after sitting next to a friends house for like 5 years)we hit alki and rolled I5 north and as we were coming up to the mercer st exit (was about 11pm) a car full of girls changes lanes right into me. i slammed the brakes and laid on the horn and just barely avoided gettin hit. I ride a cbr 929rr with a pretty quiet system on it, but my lights are really bright. i ride up next to them and look at the like what the hell is wrong with you and they are all laughing thier asses off. so my bro rolls up on the other side and goes to slam thier mirror closed. but it didnt have a folding mirror and all i see is this little mirror bouncing down the freeway. it was an accident, he didnt mean to break it but a quick check in my mirror confirmed that they all stopped laughing and looked straight faced as fuck

I Ride: a fun one.
I had a guy in a mini van with an extention ladder on top secured with bungy cords, so when he went to change lanes(my lane) I reved my motor then he quickly changed back to his lane, at that point the ladder slid off the top of the van almost falling off into me, but sprung back hitting the side of the van all the while he had no clue what happened. It takes all types.

I like pulling up to a stop light and still see them lock their doors..

The flipping off and revving of engines are signs of low esteem and feeling the need to "prove" that they're as good as you- which they're not.

Yep. Honestly, I think I've only had one incident of car trying to race me, and it was on my Rebel of all things. That was just amusing (it gave me a fun thing to rant about).

And I have not noticed that drivers notice me any less than they do in my car. Honestly, the vehicle I had the worst luck with being seen in was an old Porsche 911 that had a crappy black paint job that was pretty flat. I htink cause the car was low people tended to look over the car and not notice when they were changing lanes (I did notice when I got a Pathfinder it seemed more people noticed me).

It amazes me motorcyclists act like it's a surprising thing people don't see them on the motorcycle. You're driving a small vehicle that's narrow and can easily be blocked by objects or blend in. Particularly if you have a black bike and insist on wearing black, you're asking to be stealthy and not be seen!

Add in the fact that a lot of people are driving not cause they care about their driving or like driving, but because they have to. Which means they are only going to do the minimum they have to to get there. I wish they'd get better mass transit to encourage these types of people that they don't have to drive.

Shoot, liking to driver or ride does not mean they will ride/drive any safer anyways (lots of idiot motorcyclists out there and in general, at least in the U.S., people ride cause they enjoy it, not cause they have to which is probably why you might see less ratio of flakey riders to total amount of riders vs. flakey drivers to total amount of drivers).

Yep, you know I'm always wearing one of those orange safety vests and my jacket is blue or in the winter I'm wearing a yellow slicker over it and my bike is blue. I very very rarely have issues with being seen (as I said, I've had way more issues in my old Porsche than on the bike).

Don't even do the modulating headlight (I just find them obnoxious and refuse to get to that level of obnoxiousness). Just wearing bright colors seems to help a lot.

Well, I don't ride a sportbike but I know that to those who don't know anything about motorcyclists they might assume so (at least when you tell them Ninja 500 they immediately think it's some sort of crotch rocket cause they hear "ninja").

And as I said, I only had it happen on my Rebel (Which you really really have to know nothing about bikes to think it's sporty of any sort).

I have noticed people tend to be more passive aggressive about letting me pass in the Ninja though (I have far more issues with people speeding up if I'm about to pass them and then slowing down if I give up then I do in my car). And not in the I want to race you way but more in the either subconciously doing it or the "I think anyone going faster than me must be a reckless idiot especially if they are on a bike so I'll prevent them by speeding up" kinda way.
