Its a must to get a pinlock shield though. For whatever reason Shoei shields fog badly in winter riding and the expensive pinlocks flat work. Fog city stick ons work too but the optics suck and they scratch easily. Try wearing a helmet for a few minutes while test fitting in a shop. Walk around in it, yada yada. If no pressure point come up you are good to go. I had to add thicker cheek pads to the 1000 for a tight fit, but not the 11. Last edited by Lone Rider; 02-09-2010 at 11:08 AM.. |

| MotoGP Contender | fogging seems to be an issue with the shoei's shame....nice helmets and you would think with the amount of cash you dump into them....they'd not have the issue |

The vents will clear the shield at speed. I was riding in rain, cold and was tired of doing that. Plus I wanted the vent closed for cold riding. Try without a pinlock for a while. You might not be as anal as I am about it. You pay about $90 for a pinlock shield and 1 insert. I'm going to get a tinted insert when summer comes. Have a clear now. It will be nice packing a thin flexable insert on trips. Instead of messing with another shield. |

| MotoGP Contender | ![]() i got a screaming deal on it from another forum member who's father had only worn it a couple times i was greatly dissapointed in how much the factory clear sheild fogged up and i'm not exactly impressed or happy with the way the excess strap clasp works but....i cant really complain....considering i paid nothing near new price for a practically new helmet i'm going to try the pin-lock and if that dont satisfy my wants.....its going back on the shelf as a pure back up helmet my cheap hjc and icon helmets both have dark smoke faceshields on them and they dont fog up near as much as the shoei does thats whats so dissapointing to me about something that is supposed to be of "higher quality" |

On Shoei's it's inside the helmet under the liner, you just have to slide the liner around to see the sticker. No sense in paying $400+ for a four, or five, year old helmet. |

No fogging in a downpour with the face shield down. Edit: It does make it a pita to take the helmet off till you kind of figure it out, but it works so well that this can be overlooked. |

The fit is PERFECT, and that is how I judge a helmet. I think the fogging/not fogging issues relate to weather and conditions riders will ride in. Mine fogs up like crazy in temps below 50. Had a Fog City shield insert in my previous helmet (Shoei X-Tec). Opted for a Pinlock system this time around, ~$85 for Pinlock visor, a clear and a tinted visor (Motorcycle USA). Wanted to have the option of swapping out tints on a ride and not have to carry a different visor - the inserts take up a LOT less space. Overall the helmet has worked just outstandingly well so far, and I've had it since about May of last year. |

Super light, lots of vents and easily replaceable pads to make it fit like brand new once it's packed out. As for pin lock, not so much on the track. When I'm in a full tuck the top of the insert was directly in my line of sight. Disappointing since it should have made it so easy to swap from clear to smoked lenses. |
