If one wanted to apply this to riding, in a figurative sense of course, then Sunday was a learning day for me. I learned that if I need a new ink cartridge to print out a map for a ride, I should get it instead of just writing down directions. I learned that when trying to navigate around a gravel road, written directions are not a good replacement for a map. I learned that when it comes down to it, I can ride a gravel road for a few miles without any major drama. We're talking one of those deep gravel roads out in the middle of nowhere. I learned that Monumental Dam is closed to crossing traffic. I learned that those little Cenex gas pumps out in the middle of nowhere take credit cards. (saved my ass, that one) I learned that, while riding in the dark is fine and riding in the rain is fine, riding in the dark and the rain across Snoqualmie Pass at 9 pm sucks copious amounts of ass. I also learned that I can run a 650+ mile day in reasonable comfort, and with much enjoyment. I also learned you eastsiders are hiding some kickass roads out around Palouse Falls. |

I think this is road number 71 in the Destinations Highway book. ![]() It was about 100 degrees that day. Luckily they let us cross the dam. We didn't want to turn around. ![]() And this is the burnt out schoolhouse. Some people say it's haunted. ![]() ![]() ![]() Luckily I had my ghostbusters gear on. ![]() Good times. |
