The amount of thought going into this just reminds me that I'm glad a good ride in the rain gets the bug chunks. That's good enough for me.

...as for the bike.... it needs a bath. Badly.

My leather jackets are perforated so I try not to wear them in the rain...but the rain washes the bugs off of my nylon jacket quite nicely.

DON'T USE ALCOHOL OR AMONIA!

Now that I've yelled at you, use only warm water and a mild soap to clean the guts off. Baby wipes with aloe are useful while traveling. Get a good leather balsam, not a leather protectant, and rub it into your leathers twice a year. That will keep the leather soft and pliable for many years. I use Super VII balsam on all of my leather gear. It's spendy but good.

Remember that leather is skin. Care for it as you do for skin. Don't wash it with anything that will dry it out. It will stiffen and weaken the leathers ability to protect you against road rash. Also, a good leather balsam will make your leather water proof naturally. Disclaimer: Perforated leather will still leak water even when the leather is protected.

Just ride through a car wash. Cleans your bike and leathers.

Armor All Leather Cleaning wipes FTW

Hey Mithras, the product that we use at our shop is called Rolite's Premium protectant. I will try and find out a website for you if you are interested. It works pretty good on a lot of different things, not just leather. You can use it on plastic surfaces, fiberglass, vinyl, leather, and even tires.

Contact Rundle Sales (rundlesales@aibn.com) for the Super VII Leather Balsam. It's imported from Germany so very few places in the US sell it. I have put it on three sets of leathers, one pair of boots, two riding jackets, multiple sets of gloves, and the front seats of my truck. I still haven't used half of a 220ml jar.

I have been using the Lexol cleaner as well as the conditioner. Seems to be working great and I get it for free so it must be really good
