It was a YamaHondaSakiDavidson. I was about 14 back then. I am a little older now and the Frankenstein bike is no more but I still ride. It gets in your blood. Typically I ride to work and back, and do the Seattle 100 (used to do more track days but it is too expensive between the day off and the cost of the track day now. I am hoping to do some motorcycle camping this summer and some nice long rides. I also picked up a Nikon D90 not to long ago and have been taking some "light painted" pics the the R1, thought I would share them here. ![]() And the 'lil lady on her R1 ![]() _________________ Life is not a journey to the grave with the intentions of arriving safely in one handsome and well preserved piece. I am a Transportation manager for a Petroleum hauling company. I own a machine shop as a side business. I have been riding since I was 14. Rode mostly dirt bikes as a kid. Suffered one serious wipe out when I was 16 that resulted in a trashed right knee. After that I abandoned riding dirt and switched to pavement and never looked back. Over the years I have owned bikes from the Big 4 Japanese makers as well as one....*cough* *cough*....Harley Davidson. Hey what can I say...I had to find out what the fuss was about....right? Currently I have a 2006 Concours and my wife rides an 06 Suzuki C50T. Over the years I have had a GS500, an 1100 Ninja, a GS650GT and 3 Concours.... Generally I ride by myself or with the wife. I work a lot and ride to work most days. AS of late...I am nursing a ruptured disk in my back ....so the ride is on hold....damn it. But....Percocet and bikes ...don't mix. Cheers Mac. |

| Training Wheels Joined: Mar 2009 From: Mount Vernon, WA I Ride: '77 XS650 x 2, '78 Triumph, '69 BSA x 4 | Yet another old Newbie.... Hi Folks, I just found this site and signed up. I have been around since the crust of the Earth was cooling, and riding most of that time. My first real bike was a 1949 BSA Bantam, preceded by a couple of Lambretta scooters. I live in rural Skagit County, am retire from the printing business, and have around 9 bikes crowded into my shed; four BSA singles, a Triumph 5-speed 750 twin, a couple of XS650 Yamaha's of late 1970's vintage, one of which has a sidecar, and is my main ride, at least until I finish the Triumph resto. I've always loved bikes--my Father's fault, really. When I was about five, he took me for rides on a pre-war Harley, and I was hooked. I've had most of the usual Brit bikes, ranging from the Bantam to a Gold Star that I loved and couldn't afford, but mostly Triumphs and Nortons, with a couple of G80 Matchless singles thrown it for fun. I've owned my 1977 Yamaha since February of 1978, and she has 60,000 miles on the original big end. Needless to say, neither of us is in a hurry when we ride, but we get there! Some of the pictures of bikes I've seen here are just beautiful! I don't know if I'll post pics of mine or not....my bikes get washed when it rains, and have lots of miles on them....rather like me, except for that "washed when it rains" part..... Let's see---I'm a proud Gramma, and my 8 year-old granddaughters love to ride in Gramma's sidecar. Their daddy rode to and from kindergarten in the first sidecar, but next to the same bike! So that's pretty much me. I hope the avatar worked, but if not, I'll try again. Barb |

Last year we had my XS650 with the chair, a BMW with a chair, a couple of beautiful Triumphs, a Harley, and Terry's Norton from Vancouver. You'd be welcome on whatever you ride. Last year we rode around Mt. St. Helen's and camped two days, and this year we are probably going to ride from Lake Wenatchee to Omak and southeast to the river and back to the Lake---about 250 miles or so. Should be fun! If you (or anyone) is interested, I'll gladly post details as we work them out... I'm jealous of those Nortons! ![]() Barb |

| Newbie Joined: Mar 2009 From: Bainbridge Island, WA I Ride: VTR1000, Custom CBR thingy | Hello everybody. My name is Ian and I'm 28. I just found this site, and I think It's pretty cool. I grew up on dirt bikes, but I sold my CR250 a few years back. I've been without a bike since. A couple years ago I kinda got hooked on custom bikes, and decided I wanted one. I've been A fabricator for quite a while, so I decided to apply my talents to building a bike. After building the bike I decided It was too nice to ride, and I should buy another bike that I would actually ride. So I bought a 98 VTR1000. The plan was to leave it stock, but I'm already itching to change everything. I really need to build bikes for a living so I'll keep my hands off my own bikes. ![]() The only pic of the VTR I have. ![]() The custom. It use to be a 1987 CBR1000F ![]() A cheap side project I built. An 82 Yamaha Vision. ![]() |

| Endorsed Joined: Mar 2009 From: Seattle WA I Ride: '07 R1 | **disclaimer, drinking some wine wine, this may be lengthy **whats up everyone, I'm Ken and pretty new to the forum. I just signed up a couple weeks ago after desperately trying to find local riders at my native forum (R1-Forum) with no luck. I'm 24 and currently ride an '07 R1. I cant figure out how to attach a pic of her, but she's sweet. I've been riding since before i can really remember, started in the dirt just for fun and a little racing, then at 16 got my first street bike, a '68 Yamaha roadster. after that i rode my 85 500 Honda XR enduro all over the place. My second favorite bike after my R1 was my '91 Suzuki VX800, it was suzuki's only non standard V-twin, at least that i know of, lol. I got my R1 thinking i was graduating properly to the liter bike, which i am absolutely in love with. But then I started thinking about racing again, but not in the dirt, on the track. I've signed up with NESBA, and am going to my first track day next month, i'm excited because i have a natural talent for racing, but nervous because its a whole new animal, and i'm starting with my liter bike. But i'm secure enough in my abilities to respect my machine, and hungry to learn from those that have already been there, and done that. I'm hoping here i can meet some people that are signed up with nesba, or any other track day programs, as i'm not too familiar with this area yet. I ride every day, to and from work, shine, rain, hail and even snow if i have to. I'm trying to get a Squad together at the R1 forum, we're trying to make a positive influence all over, along with putting together some kick ass events. All the squads around the US are doing great, except our region. I hope everyone checks out my signature, and encourage you sign up. Its more geared towards Yammi's R1, but we encourage anyone on two wheels to become members! (**edit** apparently my signature isn't showing, but here's the link http://www.r1-forum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=257616) Alright, my g/f is giving me funny looks, she knows I'm writing buzzed, so i'm going to wrap this up (if anyone is still even reading I'm glad to be here, and excited to meet ya'll. Ride safe! Ken Last edited by SyKoKenDoGg; 03-21-2009 at 07:46 PM.. |

| Pit Crew Joined: Mar 2009 From: Tacoma, Washington I Ride: 00 R6 | ![]() Thanks! It might be a little while until I am able to attend a track day and ride due to not having any riding pants. I'm slowly putting all of my gear together. It's supposed to be nice from FRI - MON !!! I'm definately going to ride on Friday and will be going from I-5 to Silverdale in the afternoon sometime to deliver some papers to the Brig at the Naval Base. Damn badass soldiers, haha. Wouldn't mind meeting up with some people on Saturday as it's going to be an awesome riding day. I had a nice experience last Sunday for my first time on the Interstate on my bike. As soon as I came on the highway there was a 3 car accident about 3 cars in front of me, haha. Welcome to the Interstate I suppose! |
