hmm....looked better in prepress releases....too tall and skinny up front..looks odd...maybe another color and some mods/pipe/etc..... nice to see it thou for our sport/competition with 250R

  3. Hmm. That exhaust looked bearable... until you see it's outlet.:tard: The aftermarket will do wonders for this bike's looks. Still, good for Honda taking steps towards a different niche. (Albeit very small, small steps)

  4. Looks much better than a Ninja 250.

  5. Maybe....it's because the Ninja 250R is Kawasaki's best-selling motorcycle, it's always about the money. Maybe Honda wants a piece of that pie? I like the bike myself 8)

^^^^^ maybe kawasaki will finally step up their game and go FI

  7. I suspect when Ninja 250R sales show a downward trend, shazam..we (USA) will get FI too, they are keeping that one in the bag. Because after all, it's all about the moneyz :evil4:

  9. I asked the Kawi rep about the lack of FI and he claimed the reason was twofold, first the emissions standards in Europe require it there, and said it wouldn't be put on the US model unless similar requirements made it necessary, as it would supposedly require them to charge between $500-$700 more if done so prior to that. That seems suspect, since they already have the European version....I wonder what the difference in MSRP is between the two.

The Honda rep claimed a similar top speed for their model (mid-90s) to the Ninja, which I find a bit doubtful. Having extensively ridden a previous generation model ('95) in which I could cruise on I-5 @ 80-85 with a decent amount of throttle left, it sounds a bit optimistic for a single. Unless the newest generation 250R is about 10 mph slower than the previous one, I wouldn't think they have a nearly identical top speed, but then I haven't ridden on owned the latest one.

The Honda looks a little better in person than in pics, but the weird side fairing shape/angle vs. the frame's lines just doesn't "flow" nicely. I've been wanting another Ninja for awhile, but unless I was convinced by a test ride from the Honda, I don't see it capturing that much of the 250R's market share. Then again, I've pretty much been sold on FI since I've had the Z1000, so you never know...

  10. that 1200-ish nose is still fuckin ugly...

why wouldn't they do the ol' school duallies?

they still have them on the rvf400's in europe... it makes no sense...

    I see a mod coming... ;-)

and that behemoth exhaust... good GOD I!!!

'm envisioning CRF duals under the seat right now

  11. Geez the Muffler looks really stupid, why would it be so frickin large? Must be a California rated silencer or some shit. I'm sure that'll be the first thing recycled. Compared to it's big brother the VFR looks nice, it'll be ridden by hotties in teeny bikini's around the beach in So. Cal.

So is the CRF250R, but some had two mufflers. :secret:

  13. So they put a "Y" on a single pipe and ran two mufflers or did a single muffler have two outlets?

    EDIT: OK..found image

  14. Unfortunately for those of us who enjoy the classic dual headlight look when done correctly, it probably doesn't get too many new riders as excited. Which is where there are hoping to get sales.

I think that instead of trying to make it look like the vfr, they should have tried to make it look like the cbr1000rr. It could have come out way better. Then they just had to paint it like the vfr too :angry7:

  15. yessir I agree... the '90-93 color scheme would've looked great on there with a cbr1000rr 'look' and it would've screamed newbie LOL :mfclap:

not so much R&D is coming out of Honda lately by way of consumer buying interests... look at the dn-01 as fugly as it is... has just left me with a bad taste in my mouth... the f'n designer is grossly mistaken honda to be a custom bike builders delight... aside from that I still hate the look of the "VFR1200 headlamp n' pipe + the initial flavor I got in my mouth just looking at it... I'm just not as easy to please as I thought I was ;-)

  16. Yeah, that was the excuse that Kawasaki was putting out back in 2008. I could believe that the parts might cost close to $500, but not the difference. Maybe the difference in retail price of the parts was that much? I might also buy that a fuel injection system on a smaller bike was cost-prohibitive, if this was still 1999.

The reality is that they were already putting out a newer model, with less power and more weight, for what is already $1k more than the msrp on a 2007. Add another $500-$700 to that and people will start to wonder why they should spend $4500 +tax/title/license on a "beginners bike" when they can get a used 600ss for that much all day long on CL. I really think that Kawasaki was banking on the looks of the new 250, and knew that it was going to be a hot seller. They knew they would be able to make more money here in the states without selling it with FI. The initial rush is gone, there are used 2008+ bikes for sale at reasonable prices now, and hopefully the competition will get them to put the FI on them soon.

The cbr is also lighter than the ninja, and has FI, which is going to sway some away from the kawasaki.

  17. I'm at a loss for words after the last few years of Honda's "innovation". The '08 cbr1000 is finally starting to grow on me, but I just don't think the vfr ever will.

well at least it looks better in black:
