Let me get straight to the point with this thread: I'm not a fan of seeing old threads get bumped. Sometimes it's fun, and sometimes it's relevant, and those are fine. Should you choose to needlessly bump an old thread that relates to a bikenight, a "dated" event (one that has a specific time/place), or any other thread that falls under this general premise, you will receive an infraction. These types of thread bumps are not productive, do not benefit the community or forum in any way, and will be handled accordingly. If I haven't made this clear before by my previous actions related to actions of this nature, allow this thread to serve said purpose. Should there be any questions, post them here and I'll address as needed. - MM
I agree, the bumping of Travis's old thread was straight up nonsense. It hurts the community in a lot of ways. One, people may show up to an event not taking place. It took place over a weekend day and a week day. Some may have viewed this as being to cater to those unable to make the weekend days, and Travis making it available for everyone. Secondly, people may send Travis money. Which means he has to refund at his expense on the fees, not to mention the time he would need to take to monitor his paypal account. So he'd be out not only time, but money. Why someone would intentionally try and harm Travis for these events, is beyond me. Third, people may have contacted Nel's about the event, making trouble for someone who's been an asset to the community as well, and also a site sponsor who is helping keep the lights on for us to be here.
Thanks for adding the additional detail Mic. That's my precise train of thought. I should have typed it all out before posting the thread, but I wanted to get this up into public view ASAP. I'm always open to questions and feedback, but I hope the premise of what is accomplished by this policy is clear, especially with the additional info as presented.
My apologies to any it might've affected. I didn't think people would blindly send money to a thread that had OVER 300 posts attached to it. Or that people don't read a thread before they start sending pm's and PayPal addresses. I didn't intend any malice, it was just a joke, that was apparently funny to only a few. Again, my apologies
The thread was removed to prevent further confusion. Refer to Mic's post above and that should provide clarity.
i found it funny cuz you got me with it for a second. but this is the one that finally gets attention from the mods, when it happens constantly, sometimes by mods. oh well.
I believe by now everyone should know where the report button is. Moderators don't get to read each thread or every post. We do rely on users to help report things when they're out of whack. And if a Moderator is doing this very thing we're discussing, that too will be addressed. But as mentioned: unless seen directly or reported, how is it supposed to be resolved?
Ha! And I was going to bump an old thread yesterday to see if anyone had interest in a repeat bowling night... Good to know - don't wanna get INFRACTED
true. however, something about removing the threads doesn't sounds like the solution, maybe put it into a section that doesnt show up on the front page or something, that was a 300+ post thread, there could have been a lot of information there. just sayin.
That thread bump got me. Even asked the wife if I was free those dates. Then looked at the date more closely and felt like an idiot. Got a laugh out of it. Never occurred to me to report someone for it.
That's nothing. I saw the dates and called my boss to get the Monday off. He said I had to work, so I told him to fuck off and quit my job. Unfortunately I'll also lose my house next month because I live paycheck to paycheck. Oh well, I guess I can live in a tent and eat out of dumpsters.
I still haven't fessed up to the wife about my inability to read a simple date. Gonna try to just let that it slide by and maybe she won't notice till afterwards. If she says afterwards, hey you missed your motorcycle thingy, I'll just agree and say yeah missed it. Technically that will be true.
High end neighborhoods have the best garbage to rummage through. And their park fields have the best drainage (so you dont get wet sleeping). A bonus is that you dont have to be in the best shape because the cops are usually a round shape. Just sayin
