Forced into opposite lane.

Discussion in 'Westside' started by Jmirage, Jul 25, 2012.

  1. So, riding from Bothell Everett highway along 208th to 196th and I5, this guy really needed to be in my lane. He was in a merging lane that merged into mine, then pulled up next to me and pushed his way over. I was forced into the other lane until I got behind him. He continued down i5 from 196th. Luckily I snapped a pic. If anyone comes across his car parked somewhere, I'd like the opportunity to have a discussion with him about his aggressive driving.

  2. Fucker woulda gotten a boot to his door panel... :thefinge:

  3. I'd file a report. Nothing's going to come of it, but still.

  4. Was the front of it smashed into the shape of the back of a Jeep???

    Are Civics the new Prius????

  5. That'll teach him when you fall over and he drives away.

  6. lol... you'd be suprised...

  7. I suppose you would expect the car to fall over?
Kicking 4000lbs with 500lbs is stupid regardless of the outcome.

  8. You have never tried this, have you?

  9. sheet metal has give. I've been riding for awhile now and been in your situation more times than I care to count. On a few of those occasions I didnt have a lane to go into so yeah, I gave them a nice wake up call to the door. Stupid? yes.... did I go down? NO!

Although its important to note that they weren't whipping into the lane but rather just doing a normal speed merg and not paying attention...

  10. No, and I don't recommend trying it when I am in my truck.
Sympathetic rider or not, do that I twitch the wheel your way a second and down goes Frazier. The end.
If the driver doesn't decide to fuck you up, you gain nothing.
If the driver does decide to fuck you up, you lose.

  12. lol... im going to go out on a limb here and say that MOST drivers aren't actually trying to hurt motorcyclists...

you are obviously the exception. Im going to assume you're a UPS driver?

You're showing your newbieness...... might want to cover it back up. :secret:

  14. Maybe not before they get their door kicked. There are many people wandering around whose first reaction to a situation like that is anger rather than fear and compliance.
No, I am not a UPS driver, but I do have a brown truck.

  15. You're right (about the first reaction), I'm not suggesting that you go out and start kicking cars. I just know how I get and know what I've done.

I never said it was smart... lol

I assumed you drove UPS cause of the brown truck and your user name.

OK, I have a bit of a different take on this, from a more defensive posture.

You see a vehicle approaching the merge point where an entrance ramp meets with the lane you are in. It is a potential hazard to be dealt with, so a responsible rider notes the changing conditions and begins to plan options.

Throttle? Accelerate ahead of merging traffic to allow room behind.

Braking? Let off the throttle (and cover the brakes to signal following traffic) to allow room in front.

Steering? Change lanes to allow room for the vehicle to merge.

Net result? Traffic moves on along and you are not posting up on an internet forum about being "forced" into another lane.

As for the whole kick the door panel conversation, how many stupid pills do you have to gobble down before the idea of assaulting a four wheeled behemoth that has a 5:1 weight advantage with your foot sounds like an intelligent course of action?

If I spent time reporting every idiot that took my lane I'd never get anything else done.

Couple weeks ago I had two drivers decide they needed my lane more than I did... within about 1 minute of eachother.

Kicking their doors didn't seem like a good option. In fact it never crossed my mind. I had to content myself with twisting the throttle and flipping them off.

  18. again, didnt say it was smart. But you also werent there when I did it were you? My choices were meet the guard rail or see if I could get them to NOT come at me... I chose the latter.

I feel like you guys have this preconceived idea that it was at full freeway speeds when if you read the entire thread you would see I said it was not.

Actually, I was referring back to OP, not you. At least we agree that most likely was not the smartest thing ever done.
