LOL I leave the state for 1 year and everything has gone twisted. Trump is the president, Cosby is a rapist and used 848s cost more than new on Craigslist. Mad world...
Oddly, the CL listings for Seattle, Washington area were kinda sad, but not from a lack of availability. Everything was either "my divorce" or "I bought a bike, took the MSF course... I then found out I fucking hate motorcycles, come buy this thing!" Like, a BUNCH of bikes that were like, less than 1k mileage, and they just wanted them gone. I almost bought a Ninja 300 for $2500 just because it seemed like a great deal, but I ended up wanting a viable replacement for my Vulcan. One dude had a 2006 Ninja 636 with 400 ORIGINAL MILES ON IT. That isn't a typo - two-thousand-fucking-six. eleven years, 400 miles, that breaks down to like 37 miles a year. On that note, I just bought a 2014 Honda CB1100 this afternoon (dealership was hot to get of rid of a factory-wrapped 2014, I literally put the first mile on it). I tried CL ads myself, but I opted to just go dealership... I also don't know how well my old Vulcan 500EN would have sold as I was losing the war on rust, the carbs needed to be synched, one side of the fork was leaking (again), it needed new brake shoes for the rear drum brake, and the brake light stopped working. That bike needed more time and love than I could give it, unfortunately... It was a damn cool bike, though. ADD: I'm sorry, I thought I was in the Portland section... I've been living in Seattle five days, and come back to Portland for two, so I've been looking both places. I guess we must have been looking at different times!
Used bike prices have sucked and sucked harder...found a leftover 2016 GSXR 1000 for $10.5k, picking it up tomorrow
You should not spend more than 5% of your savings on toy like a motorcycle. Don't even get me started on financing something like this.
I have a great savings, job, investments, assets, etc. and I'm not worried about anything financially. I bought the new bike yesterday
