racer size

Discussion in 'Racing' started by edash, Dec 20, 2006.

  1. random, but i was wondering if the professional racers are generally smaller guys..shorter and lighter in weight i mean..i watch some races an the bikes look large in comparison to the rider..me i am 6'3 and a solid 230 so im a pretty big rig, and my F2 sits a good distance below me..

just curious as i dont know much about racing but i enjoy watching it so learning something new and random about it is nice..

  2. Generally the riders are in great shape. But their size unlike that of horse jockeys vary alot. I am sure some people will chime in here with stats that they look up on the riders about height and weight.

  3. Dani Pedrosa, Mighty might, is around 5'2" and 115lbs.

5'10" is a giant as is anything over 155lbs.

There are few people racing Professionally that are over 160lbs. Most are around 150 to 160. Thus I am working on getting down to 165 for this season.

I believe Kenny Roberts Junior is the largest guy in Moto GP. He was 175 lbs for most of the season. Rossi is like 140, Hayden is 155

  6. I'm hoping to be racing within 70 lbs of your weight.

    Little Racers work best.
    Less Drag, less weight.

  11. No time, no budget. Only working part time has its drawbacks.

There was a 6'5 guy a couple years ago that had won the Isle of Man TT Open class on a heavily modified Gixxer (It was made to his frame so it was larger)

  16. so i would already be starting off with a disadvantage being as heavy as i am..it would be darn near impossible for me to drop weight any below what i am unless i start loosin muscle mass as i am only 10% body fat..

  17. I'm 6'0" 220 lbs myself......if they let me have a "Do not pass when lights are flashing" sign I'll race.

  18. I raced last year at 6' 240lbs.

    If you want to race........race.

    +1 I've lost 20 and am losing another 20 for next season. Target is 155-160 - I'm 6' 0".
