| Pit Crew   | Park bench for mikefsu After the accident, a number of people approached me to see if they could contribute towards something in memory of Mike. It took me a little while to decide what to do, but I just got approval from the city parks planner to put a memorial bench in Bachmann Park. There were a number of reasons why I thought this might be nice. - Mike loved being out in nature and could sit and watch a nature view for hours. In fact, he once mentioned that the only other federal job he would have considered was being a park ranger. - Bachmann is a tiny neighborhood park, but it's well used. This will replace the only bench there. The current bench is Hobbit-sized, probably only 12 inches off the ground, and starting to rust. A new bench will improve this public space, which Mike would have liked. - This will be a place to go to remember him. He’s not buried in Washington, and the memorial marker at the accident site is pretty far. - We used to walk to this park in the evenings. For any money contributed above the cost of the bench, I will find a way to donate it towards motorcycle safety training. He was serving "Our Country" voluntarily, with pride and dedication. Every single man/women who wears this nations uniform, whether they leave our shores, carry a weapon, or wear a stethoscope around their collar sacrifices. I would ask you to please consider making this small token to an American Serviceman possible. Thank You...AJ |
