Russ,

Cool, so I just checked out the forum. Looks like there is some interest there. I also noticed a couple of club level racers posting. I have built suits for teams as well as individuals in the AFM here in California.

OK, the details. I will need at least 6 suit orders.

$350 per suit
Custom built to individual body measurements.
Perforation upgrade *FREE
Matte upgrade *FREE
Reflective piping *FREE
Back protectors $40
Custom lettering $3/letter any size
Custom embroidery is available (prices vary)

*The FREE upgrades are options and do not have to be on the suit if it is not wanted.

Regular price
$425 custom suit
$45 perf upgrade
$30 matte upgrade
$500 TOTAL

$350 PNWriders group price

%30 discount or more.

Again Russ, I will need at least 6 people on board. I am able to bill them all separately so that you dont have to collect any money. So what I need from you now is 6 people that want suits, or a combination of people to equal 6 suits. Once you have 6 people confirmed I will take over from there. I would love to reply in the forum but I have done this before and owners of the sites dont like it when I am plugging my business on their site without being a paid sponsor :( .......I'll check back often to see the progress though.

here is one of the "older style" leathers
(they have updated the patterns in the hip/ass area, they now have less seams)

In this suit the shoulders have a double layer of leather.....

The elbows and the seat do not have an extra layer of leather but there is an extra bit of padding sewn into the suit along with the removable armor......

If you notice in these pictures all of the seams are sewn on the inside of the suit as well as an extra stitch on the outside double stitched in some places. Nylon thread is used in all stitching. 1.3mm/1.4mm cowhide leather.

More Pics..... and a review...
“ Quote:
Here's my review from a small women's perspective:

When I first pulled the suit out of the box the first thing I noticed was the weight. Like my husbands spidi suit it had a good weight to it. There is a TON of armor everywhere! We compared the stitching on the seams and the amount of seams to his Spidi suit and they were very comparable. They looked virtually the same, double stitching in all of the right places.

The quality of the leather is comparable as well to his Spidi suit. It seems decently thick, but still flexible enough leather. The colors also on my suit are awesome and the name on the back turned out great.

The fit on the lower body was pretty good and it fits perfectly with my back protector. I am happy that I can fit my suit in my boots without having to fold over any extra leather like my old suit. There is a ton of protection in the knees, shins, hips, shoulders, elbows, and arms. The knee protection definitely will not move for anything which is great in a crash! I swear, I had a hard time just getting it on and off which for me is a great plus!

Now, for being such a small woman I should have requested more of a kids size. I do fit in boys size 14 so the armor in the regular suit is a bit too big on the top for me. I look a bit like a football player in the shoulders. I am small.... 5' tall and about 100 lbs with a very small frame. This also made the arms a bit big below the elbow instead of being as snug as they should be. So if you are a woman who is small or petite like me, ask Daniel about the kids sizing at least for the armor so you don't end up with armor that is more of a mans size.

All in all the quality of the suit way surpassed my expectations. It has the weight and seam quality of my husbands Spidi suit which says a lot about the craftmanship of the suit. All of the men out there, this will fit you wonderfully! All of the women who are small like me, talk with Daniel about the kids sized armor and you will be set!

Again, Daniel has been more than responsive and keeping us up-to-date on everything that has happened with our suit. He has provided the best customer service that I have received in a long time.

again,
this is one of the earlier designs
(there are less seams in the hip/ass area)

“ Quote:
The only other thing that I would add is that I had a little bit of bunching around the hips area when I was on the bike. So if you order go to a seamstress to get the measurements and possibly make them just a hair smaller.

I got the perforated two piece and boy do those holes work. My ride today from 1500 to 1730 was cool the way I like it. This suit will be great in the heat but not so good in the cold. If you want these for cold riding, add a little to the measurements so you can wear a sweatshirt under the jacket or you'll have to wear a shell like I have to do because I measured tight and there is no room to wear two layers. Since the price is good, I may just order another non-perforated suit.
As Toe showed, the butt is also perforated and I can feel cool air back there if the wind is blowing in certain directions
I believe Daniel will make sure future suits' butts are not perforated for better protection during a slide since that area tend to slide a lot.

The suit was comfortable on the bike and the only thing that got my attention was a stiff area around the shoulders which should soften up after some more use.
Overall, I am very happy with the suit and will be wearing it during warm temps and ordering another for the cold temps.

A* "Knock-Off" Review
check out this "KnockOff" Suit

“ Quote:
My suit has arrived!

I finally bought my first leather suit! Mostly due to the fact that i needed one for track days, but also because i think i have realized the importance of gear when it comes to safety. No more textile for me....well, we'll see

Anyway, im extremely happy with the suit i got from Daniel.

Like others, i was slightly skeptical. I mean, come on. A custom leather suit for $400?! And even then, i didnt realize the extent of "custom". Patterns, sizes, colors, lettering, perforation, 1 piece/2 piece, etc, all custom!

I didnt know where to start....

So i figured i would just shoot Daniel (TILT) a PM. He has been more than helpful with any questions i have, plus is a super nice person to deal with. He's kept up with great communication with me, prompltly answering my stupid questions

I shopped around for some different styles via the internet, mostly looking for any white/black suit i could find.

I landed on the Alpinestars RC-1, retailing at $1000.

"Can you make this?" i asked Daniel.

"Maybe not exactly, but it will be close..." he says.

Cool

So, i swapped some colors around with my super sweet 'Paint' skills, told him i wanted it "some perforated leather, mostly non-perf" (yes, he does that!), some custom lettering on the back, and i was ready to go.

He sent the design back, i approved, and the ball was rolling.

All i had to do was get measured and.... ahem.....$pay$

Measure twice and cut once? Nah. Measure three times and cut once....

I first got measured by a "professional" tailor. He didnt happen to speak english very well, and failed to grasp the concept this was going to be a leather racing-style suit that is skin tight....

So when i measured back at the house, it was completely different. So i figured i would get measured a second and third time by a friend and then by a co-worker, and split the difference and/or go with what i felt was right....

I sent the measurements, sent payment, and I crossed my fingers- fearing the measurements were too big.

Then...patience. I think the turn around time was about 7 weeks. I cant complain, i mean, a custom suit?!

I got a call yesterday from Daniel, telling me my suit was here! He could ship it to me, or i could come pick it up. It was going to be about a 90 min trip one way to get down there, so he had it sent to my work address instead. And it arrived in less than 24 hours from when i hung up that phone! I was shocked he got it to me that fast! Thats what i call great service....following through with your word, and promptly.

Ok, ok. Enough with the

Let me know what you think....

So you know who just passed you

Havent gotten a chance to get it on the bike yet. It feels.....stiff. I am no contortionist at the circus, so im gonna have to work on getting in and out of this thing cuz... damn.

Im glad it wasnt too big though, as im sure it will break in some.

I give it a from the little dude with only one hand

Two More...

Just got mine tonight. Short and sweet, Daniel rocks and rocks hard. This suit is perfect. The design, perforations, and everything are exactly the way I wanted them. Hell, he even hand-delivered it to me!

Daniel, here's to you, man!

Here's my contribution to TILT's review thread:

A 2-piece from one of the designs Daniel had available. I would've made my own design, but I wanted to jump on the initial price Daniel had before it changed, and he gave me a good deal on all the letterings I asked for (both arms, and some on my lower back). I'm currently designing a 1-piece for my next order.

First Crash Review.... (Old Design, seat/hips have been changed)
here's the first Review of the suit in a crash...

keep in mind,
this is the reason the seat/hip area went thru a "re-Design"
they have less seams now, and the designs are stitched ontop of the base layer

“ Quote:
This post may open a can of worms, but my good friend crashed this weekend in his TILT costum suit and I believe this is the first post-crash review.

He was doing 60-65 and looped his GSXR 750 over an insane roller on a straight road. As you will see, he landed on his rear end and slid/rolled to a stop on the pavement.

He got very lucky to have walked away from this accident with only a broken ankle and some road rash on his calf area where the stretch panel of the suit wore through.

The suit may have saved him this time, but as you can see, there are mutiple seams ripped out in the butt area and legs. Additionally, you can see the leather dye that peeled off on the red parts of the suit. You can draw your own conclusions...

EDIT: The dye did not peel off. The owner painted it black because he did not like the red. It was the black paint that peeled off.

I'll try and find the pics of some other "Get Off's"
this one definately was the worst looking suit (busted seams)
but it did save the rider alot of pain and suffering

infact,
Daniel, the owner of Tilt Customs
sent this guy a box to return the suit,
and a replacement suit

that's a good sign of how this seller cares about his product.

Edit:
“ Quote:
All in all I must say that I am very pleased with the performance with this suit. It is the first real tested suit since all of my safety upgrades were implemented and held up great in my opinion and did what it was supposed to do.

The ironic part of all of this is that this suit is the IDENTICAL model to the suit that crashed earlier in the year. The pictures below tell the story of all the safety upgrades and how they improved the quality of TILT suits.

Tilt suit in action, Thunderhill:

There was a mixup and the suit came with a hump, but Daniel's working on that. The matte leather is great (if low-contrast--that grey is the silver in matte leather). The perforation is just right for me, on the chest only.

The upper arm area is a bit loose, and there is some tension wrinkling in the back around the hump. The neck fits perfectly, and the legs fit snugly without being too constrictive, once I'm loosened 'em up with a few rides (my last suit prevented me from hanging off at ALL).

The fit is pretty darn good for a budget suit, I think, and I'm pleased with the redesigned seat, with its fewer seams.

Overall, I'm quite pleased. And thanks to com3 for the photos, too!

Porrada Goes Boom

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, after using my Tilt suit at Laguna and numerous rides in the hills with nary a problem I had to go and decide to U-turn on Pine Flat Road Sunday. Seems a patch of gravel had something of an objection to my plan and reacted to my braking by sliding my front wheel left and the bike right and me unceremoniously on my tuckus.

Bike Damage? Upper / gauge panel / right fairing / tail / brake lever & pedal and cracked crankcase cover as a bonus. All told ~$2,500 in parts (assuming I saw all the damage).

Me? Sore shoulder and back.

Suit? Came through like a champ. A couple of scuffs and more knee slider damage than I acquired at Laguna. There seems to be a minor seam separation next to the knee (next to last image), but no failure, no wear through and not a spot of rash or trauma on me.

Thanks Daniel for calling to ask if I was ok. You've always been a class act and your efforts to improve Tilt suits shows you want your customers happy and safe.

Got my suit in OH YEA!!!!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got my suit in a week or two ago.... been meaning to post some pics..... Please ignore the $hit in the background.... anyways... tighter than what i am used to wearing during my everyday riding. have only worn the top once to work... wanted to give it a try.... won;t be able to try the whole thing out till next weekend ..... but i am very pleased.... looks exactly like I wanted it, Except it looks like the supplier used a different gun metal on the pants compared to the one in the jacket... BUT he did incorporate a lot more in the design then I though he would be able to..... That one ride to work with the jacket was interesting with the hump.... my helmet was hitting the hump and prevented my head from going all the way back.... then when i wanted to trun my head while switching lanes... it was very difficult cuz my helmet was rubbing against the hump... I figure that if you are on a track.... you wouldn't be turning your head like that.. so it would be okay... but on the street can be very annoying. Over all I am would still rate it a 4 out of 5. The value of the suit is great! Especially with my fat A$$... I can;t wear off the shelf suits..... and TILT makes it possible for people like me to get the protection I need at a reasonable price. Would and WILL buy again!

Another Review with Action Shots....
good review

“ Quote:
i've finally gotten a chance to start riding with my suit...and enough riding that it's starting to break in nicely....

this was my first time wearing the suit on the bike, and first time back on a bike after a 2 month hiatus from my last crash... it was snug...moreso than i'm used to. a little bit difficult to move around in comfortably...

but it looks damned good...

skip forward to ~3 weeks ago and a couple of trackdays later, and it's starting to feel really good now. like a 2nd skin..

i'm much more able to move around on the bike...

then, skip ahead a little more... and the suit is feeling pretty damned perfect and i'm getting back tto my usual hooligan self..

and the TILT suit is starting to feel more like a comfy glove than anything...

anyhow, i rode a couple of sportybikes last weds at thunderhill and again this past tuesday...no pics to show for it, but i can tell you, it feels great. it's stretched out a bit in all the right places and feels good now. i'm even started to get back into sub 2:10's at thunderhill again!

thanks daniel!

I Ride: Scooter on Steroids (since my GTR got wrecked)
new suit pictures and initial impressions (LONG)

“ Quote:
I picked up my two-piece from Daniel a few days ago. Today was my first chance to actually ride with it. I thought I’d post up these pictures and give my initial reaction. Bear in mind that this is my first set of leathers, so I don’t have a lot to compare it with.

Looks:
Overall, I’m happy with how it looks. There's a little more white on the legs than I'd anticipated, but going back to the order form I can see that this was indeed the color scheme I'd submitted and signed off on. I also expected to see a little more difference between the matte black and the gunmetal – looking closer, I’m now questioning if I didn’t end up with the glossy gunmetal rather than the matte (as specified). It’s really not that big a deal to me, however. One aspect of my order that definitely went wrong was the inclusion of the patches. Daniel had kindly agreed to my request that they be left off the design - they were sewn on anyway. He had already acknowledged this before I saw the suit and had apologized for the mixup. I'll probably just take a stitch ripper to them eventually - I just dig "colorless" look...

Fit / Comfort:
I'm pretty happy with the fit - certainly better than I've found trying stuff right off the rack. The arm and leg lengths are good. The ass is a little saggy when standing straight up but I’d imagine that’s normal – all good when I’m on the bike. The fit across the shoulders seems fine, although the shoulder armor and my deltoids aren’t the best of friends yet. I am sure this will improve. The pictures seem to show a little extra material in the arms, but it feels snug and the elbow armor isn’t moving around a lot like my current textile jacket.

As far as comfort, I’d like to be fair and say it’s too early to judge - I know I should give the thing a little break-in time. However, I am already sensing a few areas that could be improved.

1) Just sitting there on the couch with it, I found that the cuffs were really uncomfortable against bare skin. I think it’s just where the leather is doubled back on itself combined with the stitching. I dunno – I should check out some high-end OTS gear to see how they guard against this – the addition of some kind of elastic fabric seems overkill, but perhaps some kind of suede/chamois lining it would help? It wasn’t really a factor on this ride, but I also had a long-sleeve T-shirt on...

EDIT: went by Road Rider today and inspected some of the Daineses. Suede was definitely a factor in the zipper backing. Another thing I noticed on some models was the liner extending ALL the way to the end of the cuff. Maybe future tweaks to the designs will incorporate more of this?

2) I was pretty “aware” of the collar on this ride. The soft material at the nape of the neck was perfect, but the front has no such material. It wasn’t majorly cutting into my neck or anything. I’m happy to give this time to improve, and will definitely focus on that area when I eventually bust out the leather conditioner.

3) The knees. Oooh, the knees. I was *acutely uncomfortable* there today. Standing, they’re just fine. But when the knees are flexed, I found my knees chafing against the liner. Toward the end of my ride, I was feeling “hot spots” at the kneecaps and where I was gripping the tank. They were visibly red and irritated when I took the suit off after my ride (see picture).

One other significant problem: the zipper on one of the legs is problematic. It consistently mis-tracks at the same place, failing to mesh together perfectly (see picture). It still closes up securely, and it doesn’t affect the fit whatsoever. I’ve left Daniel a message about that just a few hours ago, so it remains to be seen what he thinks we can do about that.

Value:
Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with the deal I got here. I know the Helimot-clad folks are probably shaking their heads at some of the negatives I’m posting, but for those of us that have a hard time justifying $2000 or more for a suit, it seems like a fair deal. Where I see a potential problem is with the wait time… you certainly are missing the Instant Gratification that comes with just walking into a store, dropping cash, and walking out with a suit. Not to mention the ability to return the thing for something like the zipper snafu I just described. I’d say this is best suited for someone who already has leathers and wants another pair.

I picked up my new suit this past Thursday, and I started breaking it in over the weekend. I love, Love, LOVE my suit!!!!!! It's the best-fitting moto gear I've worn so far!!! My zippers work perfectly, and even though it's rather an alien being when I first put it on, within half an hour or so, my suit feels like a second skin.

I'm going to the track on Saturday, so I'll have more pics and a longer review hopefully next week.

In them meantime, I love, Love, LOVE you, Daniel, and here's a pic of the jig I did the first time I put my new suit on

A quick review of another recently crashed suit....

“ Quote:

This was crashed at Sears Point at a recent trackday. I am not to sure of the specifics but I am told that it was a fairly low speed get off, 60MPH or so.

This is a shot of the L. hip area of the suit and took the brunt of the fall

Dont think this is how he wanted to drag his knee

There were a few small tears on the shoulder area of the suit but if you look closer you will notice that the seam did not fail but rather tore where the stitching was.

Now this picture of the elbow is very interesting. As you see, the exterior stitch was ground off during the slide.

The seam did not fail and held together because there is an additional "hidden" stitch under the layers of leather and the top stitch as evident in this picture.

Again, no seam failure mainly due to the addition of another stitch under the panel.

Now this is the only failure I see in the suit. It is a very small failure and VERY repairable.

another review

“ Quote:
I would like to give a huge thanks to Daniel. I just recieved my replacement suit and it looks great. I went out for a ride in it on Saturday and it fit perfect. Hopefully I won't need to be the one to re-test the suits, once was enough but I feel that it will do the job very well if I do have to test it again. I was able to get the suit's colors just how I wanted it this time without having to customize my custom suit with paint. Daniel was able to understand just how I wanted it to look, the first time I didn't know how the back of the suit looked or how it could be customized since I bought it off of e-bay. I added the reflective piping to my new suit and I like it a lot, it seems very visable. I also got it without a collar this time because it's a lot more comfortable to turn my head without it. I would highly recomend this suit to anyone, it might not be a $2000 suit, but in my opinion, it's worth well more than any otr suit and about half the price. I'll try to get some pics while I'm wearing it soon. Thanks again Daniel!

Hmm lets see where this goes. I do want a spare suit. I might even be interested in two, one for the wife.

Checking the site now.

Did Daniel email you all the above pics and comments?, it says site coming soon.

That's a really good deal for a 1 piece suit. I'll have to look into it some more...

so far,
I've talked to a few friends,
we've (prettymuch) got 3 people that are "in"
if you go for 2, we'll only need 1 more

I found his product on another forum.

all the pics/reviews were from another "local" type forum
(it took a while to weed thru all the BS and just get reviews with pics)

I have been in contact with Daniel,
I should have more details (about a possible discount) early this week.

I also sent him a link to this thread,
he may chime in here to answer questions directly

Cool, just don't count on either of mine YET. Lets see what happens to final pricing and interest from others. I still have to show this to the wife just to see if she wants a set.
Also want to know more about the custom/order process.

I have a race/track budget to think about, can't spend all my $$$ on stuff I don't NEED

OK, the details. I will need at least 6 suit orders.

$350 per suit
Custom built to individual body measurements.
Perforation upgrade *FREE
Matte upgrade *FREE
Reflective piping *FREE
Back protectors $40
Custom lettering $3/letter any size
Custom embroidery is available (prices vary)

*The FREE upgrades are options and do not have to be on the suit if it is not wanted.

Regular price
$425 custom suit
$45 perf upgrade
$30 matte upgrade
$500 TOTAL

$350 PNWriders group price

%30 discount or more.

Again Russ, I will need at least 6 people on board. I am able to bill them all separately so that you dont have to collect any money. So what I need from you now is 6 people that want suits, or a combination of people to equal 6 suits. Once you have 6 people confirmed I will take over from there. I would love to reply in the forum but I have done this before and owners of the sites dont like it when I am plugging my business on their site without being a paid sponsor :( .......I'll check back often to see the progress though.

Nice, I did not want this to drag out. The longer I wait, the more my funds become dedicated to the track.

Hey Russ, Would you start a list in this thread as to who is a definite yes? I am not going to send a deposit until I know this is going to happen.
Once we have the proper number of people then we can all send Daniel the $$$.

I'm in for sure (still waiting on the wife) with funds available NOW

OK, has a deposit amount been discussed?

I dont want to send him $700 and have this fall apart, only to lose 20 bux in paypal fees for nothing.
