East Meets West Southern Oregon Style
Just throwin out some feelers after talkin to Frill Dog

Anybody interested in doing an East Meets West camping/riding weekend where we hook up with the west side folks at the Lake of The Woods for a big ol party. Maybe Roseburg and Bend join in too ? Geez..anybody for that matter

Bring tents, sleeping bags, BBQ, Beer...do a day ride or two.,....back to the Lake of the Woods campground to BBQ, Bullsh*t, drink beer, general fun and partying. Maybe a Friday thru Sunday thing?

I dunno here's their thread for ideas:
2009 East meets West

Anybody interested?

I'd be up for that but we should do it later in the summer so I'll have a running bike...

If it happens to be on a weekend that I'm home on my mandatory 2 days of between fire assignments, it sounds like a good time for sure.

It's been a long time since I've been to LotW campground. I grew up in Roseburg so post in that section once in awhile. I usually try to take a weekend off and go to Diamond Lake and hang out at the cabin, but I would be interested in this. I would even throw my bike in the back of my truck along with a couple of 5 gallon kegs of beer to have on tap, and all my camping gear, just so you all could have a good time. That way, we ride in the day, and have a few beers at the end of the day.

Clear down there in K-Falls, wouldn't it have to be called something more like "North Meets Southwest and Southeast"? I mean, there's a border there and California isn't part of PNW...

It's suprising how many people that live From Redding north in CA consider themselves to be in the Northwest.

somebody over on the medford forum suggested diamond lake for a more centralized location and the presence of a gas station. I like it.

LotW has a gas station...but I agree that a more central location would be better if we are trying to get all of Southern Oregon.

I'm interested, but...

If Diamond Lake is chosen as a spot my brain will go into meltdown over the decision "take the boat or take the motorcycle".

Hey guys, how are things in Klamath? I moved to Bend and don't know anybody up here to ride with and there is no activity on their site. I'm up for a ride and some camping.

Ok...I went and looked at the Forest Service Campground website:

http://www.recreation.gov/camping/Di...ex=CampingSpot

Looks like reservations are taken from June 13 through September 7. During the reservation season there are 145 campsites available for reservations, and 95 campsites available for first come, first serve.

It appears to me that its all paved which will be awesome for our bikes. If this happens..I'm gonna trailer the bike up with my truck and fill the back with all my camping gear and such.

Has anybody thought about some day rides? Crater Lake is obvious....but are there many twisties up there? 66 is pretty far to the south but still do able in a day obviously.

Looks like this gaining monentum....my best month to do this right now is August. I'm going to Laguna Seca for the Moto GP and I'll be at the Gorge for the Sportbike Rally. Any other weekend though is pretty good...including two weeks from now.

Who else is in ?!?!?!?!

One trip you should definetly take is the road that runs from Canyonville to Rogue Elk (Tiller Hwy). I've only driven it in my fire truck, but the entire time all I could think about is how much fun it would be on my bike. Here's a possible route http://tinyurl.com/kpjgu4 The stretch from Rogue Elk to Tiller makes the corners on Greensprings look like speedway sweepers lol. If you see a corner marked 15mph, they mean it (at least in a car or truck).

Ok...it looks like everyone is starting to lean towards August. Here's what I'm thinking:

Friday August 14th to Sunday the 16th

Thats two weeks after the Sportbike Rally in the Gorge which I know a number of us are attending.

I'm more than wiling to semi-take the reins on this thing and kinda play head coordinator if needed. Right now, most of the campsites are available but I'm sure they'll book fast as everyone is doing the "staycations" this year.

So whatya say guys Aug. 14-15-16 ?!?!?!?!?

on that ^^^

We want to initially get A001 thru A008 , B001 thru B003 and C001 & C002

For the late committers...just on the othe side of the road that splits up the two campgrounds there are a TON of sites that are just yards away that is first come first serve. Those are like K001-K020

So I've committed and gotten A003...Start booking guys so we can cluster together !!!
