Thumbs up Gas tank repair (pic heavy)
So I thought I'd share this with you guys. The gas tank looked like shit and I didn't feel good riding it that way. Anyways, I called up every body shop in the Tacoma-Puyallup-Sumner area and the lowest quote on fixing everything on it was $500...and with that I could have just bought Dave's tank. SO I decided that I was going to do this the hard, but fun way.

Currently I'm applying filler and sanding (repetedly). More pics will be on as things get done.

Here's how it looked before we did anything, except a little sanding:

With studs welded on:

Used a Slide Hammer to Pull the Dents Out. Studs were taken off. Not grinded all the way off yet:

I will for sure! Tomorrow I'm doing more filler and sanding, then will start the priming process. I'm debating paint colors now though...I have a gold frame so I'm thinking black would look good...

Okay so I just did the second layer of filler. I will do 3-4 until I get it perfect, and as thin as possible. Here's some pics of where I'm at right now:

Thanks man. For the final paint stage? Naw not yet...I'm still debating colors...This is what my bike looks like right now without the tank on...suggestions on colors? I'm painting the front fender to match.

I'd suggest a gold over black on the tank, with a black fender.

I'm using as little filler as I can, so I should be fine just priming over the filler that is on now. But to be safe I'm gonna use USC ICING to finish it up before I prime it.

I'd imagined gold on the upper half, blended into a high-gloss black lower. Yeah, kinda reflecting the frame.

That'd look pretty cool actually. I'm leaning towards candy apple red now after looking at pics...We'll see what happens though! Thanks for the suggestion
