Rurh ro raggie.... Got water in the gas tank and it won't start...
Ok, so seeing how I live in the rain capitol of the world, I left to visit family in Texas for just over a week. Came back and tried to start up my baby just to warm her up, it ran for about 2 min and then died. I went to open up the gas cap to see if someone may have stole gas out of my tank (since it's not hard to remove 3 bolts), but had about 1.5 gal. In the process of opening the cap a bunch of water from the void around the cap went into the tank!! I'm gonna go out on a limb and say water in the engine is no bueno.... What's a brotha to do???

BTW, got an 06 ZX-6R...

I think some seafoam in the tank? Possibly could eat up the moisture (water).

I think I remember seeing a seafoam video that mentioned this. Use as directed. For a car i think you put 1/3 can in the tank. I'm sure you wouldn't have to put that much in a motorcycle tank, but i bet it would eat up all the water.

How much water? If it was just a tablespoon or so fill the tank and you should be fine.

Well, I figured out that the tube that drains the void around the gas cap was kinked. Still having no luck starting her.... :(

That small of an amount of water is probably no big deal - a fill up and a little Heet if you're worried about it.

Well to start you need 3 things: fuel, air, spark. Air generally isn't an issue, so make your got spark and that your fuel pump is coming on and working.

i would not worry about it. water wont hurt an engine. ever hear of water injection?

on an FI bike, small trace amounts of water wont do much except cause a misfire here and there until it it all expelled from the tank. carbbed bikes suffer as water is heavy and pools around the main jet causing the fuel to be blocked and nothing to be drawn into the emulsion tube of the carb. fi will force water in and burn it up any ways.

less than a cup of water in your tank, i would just run it. or if you are paranoid, pull the fuel pump out of the tank and drain it.

Like Jay said. Check you are getting fuel and spark.

You could have a blocked breather vent in your tank keeping fuel from going anywhere. Or a fouled plug.

Easy to find things first though. Kill switch? In neutral when cranking it over? Fill the tank up with gas? Bike dry? (Might have a short somewhere). Is it a Triumph? I kid I kid

Did you happen to leave the key in the ignition while it was exposed to moisture? Had a weird occurence with my 05 ZX-10, left key in while trailering home 200 miles in the rain...oops. Got enough water down the ignition hole it would not start and all thelight weirded out. Took several applications of contact cleaner/WD-40 and about a week for it to totally go away.
