Stripped thread. no oil bolt, but oil pan?
I think i might need to take the bike in and get a heli coil done. Seems to be stripped as bolt wont tighten fully, plus i noticed a coil on the oil pan that was loose/some of it was breaking off. the bike doesnt produce a constant drip but i wouldnt say its a tight seal. Any suggestions? Would i be better off just buying a aftermarket or oem oil pan? bike has 16k miles on it. still havent done the valves...do i just take it in bight the ($$$) bulllet and get the maintenance done as well as the oil pan fixed. Thanks.

I'd go with your plan 'A'. Repair the pan. It may be able to be fixed 'on the bike'.

Another option to consider: automotive style oversized drain plug?

Check the price for a new oilpan. If it's $50 or so, just get a new OEM one and put it on yourself. To do the repair the right way, the pan is going to have to come off anyway.

I did the same thing on one of my previous bikes, and ended up getting a used oil pan off of ebay for $20 or so. I bought a new gasket and it only took about 20 minutes to replace.
