Probably the safest thing to do is find the servo connection to the sub-throttle plate arm and disconnect it. Then lockwire the sub-throttle plate arm in the open position. You can then test whether or not the mod is giving you the benefit you are looking for.
The reason being, if you look down your intakes (with airbox off), imagine stripping one of those screws holding the secondary throttle plates. Some people have had some horror stories taking them off in the FZ1 world.

I'm about the same, and I've never had a complaint about the eyeball crushing power that my bike makes.

(no I have not done it)
After looking at that mod, I'd be a little leery. You have to dremel your throttle cable housing to make it work, so if you fuck up, you're off the road till a new one arrives.

Besides, all you really need to do is just turn your wrist faster. You're wrists are nice n limber, Matt.

It's not, actually. A few people have done it, myself included, with relatively inconclusive results. It doesn't "unleash the beast" the same way it does with the 14.

From what I can tell, it makes the throttle much more responsive, but at a severe loss of low opening smoothness. No HP or torque gains from the first time I dynoed at DucSea to the last.

It'll throw an error code at you. You have to leave the servo functional or install the correct resistor.

BigDZX10R, I hate to tell you this, but unless you're rockin' a number plate on the front of that 08 of yours, you need schooling before speed mods. Especially considering the miniscule anmount of throttle response you gain, I'd recommend spending your time elsewhere. I can tell you for certain that it will be a disappointment.

To be quite honest, I sincerely doubt you're capable of utilizing the full HP potential of even a stock ZX10R. Most mortal humans aren't. Get some track days under your belt and really learn that machine. It'll go a hell of a lot farther for you than pulling the flies.

Yep, the way I wrote that you are right.

I should have written,"Disconnect the mechanical connection between the servo and sub-throttle plate arm, do not disconnect the servo itself."

That's really the best thing to do in this case, easily reversible.

you know it baby. Actually, the real problem the rifleman's throttle mod was attempting to fix was the amount of turn to WOT. Some people have experience (on the track for the most part) that you need to either (a) start with your wrist in a really weird position, or (b) grab another handful halfway thru your twist in order to get to WOT.

This issue is most prevalent at the track when you are holding "maintenance throttle" through the corner and then trying to open up to WOT as you exit the corner. Maybe its cause Im slow, but I've really only noticed a couple times and you can always adjust your riding style and/or gearing/gear selection to avoid the problem. Of course, Im never really that close to the ragged edge.

No worries, man. Again, it's nothing personal.... Just a universal truth.
