Removing ignition from 1995 honda shadow VLX...
God friend of mine snapped the key on his shadow, thankfully not in the ignition. We need to get a new key cut, so I came over to remove the ignition so we could look up the number on it. I was unable to remove it all the way as the mounting method of attaching it to the frame resembles really deep pop rivets more than anything...
Anyways, anyone know the technique for remvoing it? I found a number elsewhere on the ignition so we're taking that number to see if it works. We're also goign to try and see if we can find out what key it should use based off the vin. Any advice on that as well?

I think the bolts are a torque to yelid. the heads snap off when they are tight enough or saftey torks. Anti-theft thing. See if you can get the helmet lock off or the gas cap and take it to a locksmith. The helmet lock might not have all of the cuts needed for the IGN switch though. Too bad you are not in spokane I would give you the number to the locksmith I use at work, 10 min and like $50 and he is done. Try honda they might be able to get you keys from the vin number with proof of ownership.
