I'm planning on picking up one of those heated ultrasonic cleaners from Harbor Freight tomorrow, but I'm wondering, what to use as a cleaning solution? The stuff Harbor Freight sells isn't safe for aluminum. |

Get it at Oreilly's auto parts. Is the ultra sonic cleaner made to clean carb parts or jewelry? Last edited by james1300; 03-27-2012 at 06:44 PM.. |

There have been a few threads with people suggesting the ultrasonic cleaner, but I haven't seen what they use for a cleaning solution. |

Berrymans has a flash point of 140F!!!! So nothing combustible unless you can switch off the heater. Or you might try soaking dismantled parts in berrymans and then putting it in the bath with a mild detergent? Last edited by Andy Capp; 03-28-2012 at 11:48 AM.. |

The question though then would be what to use for detergent? I'm guessing it wouldn't be dish washing detergent for instance. I might just go the Berryman's dip route. I'm familiar with that, I was just thinking that with the cleaner, it would be one less thing I have to get rid of at the Hazmat dump eventually. |

You could use 'Berrymans' in a smaller can for the brass parts Soak them in a small glass. Then soak the carb body, after you have removed everything. In this 'Yamaha' brand carb. soak. It's mixed 50/50 with water. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outdoor/...22/detail.aspx I'm not sure how flammable it is. Last edited by james1300; 03-28-2012 at 11:52 AM.. | |

Not quite. 20 min of that and "Ding, fries are done"... Do it outside. |

Could the Yamaha stuff be used in a Ultra Sonic, heated machine? Do you think the Yamaha stuff would harm the plastic bowl used in the Ultra Sonic cleaner? I don't know if it'll kill your plastic bowl because mine's stainless. But I've put plastic parts in this stuff. Depends I guess. I started using agetene because it's faster. The same precautions apply. |
