91 v. 94 F2 intake boots?
I'm rebuilding my 91 CBR600F2 and needed to buy four intake boots/manifold things. The official Honda designation is a "carburator insulator", but they are really just little rubber intake manifolds that lead from the carb to the head.

At any rate, I got four of em off eBay for a good price. The ones I got were off of a '94 F2, and I just got em today. They look a little different than the ones that came off my bike, but it looks mostly cosmetic. The big issue I have though is that while they fit snugly on the cylinder head side, they are pretty loose on the carb side. They have metal clamps for both sides, but if the rubber isn't snug on the carb side, won't it still leak air even if I tighten em up real good?

Anyhow, do any of you gurus know if the part for the 94 is interchangeable with the ones for the '91, or do I need to get new ones. I could probably get three of the old ones to work, but one of em got totally destroyed taking it off the bike. Rubber is torn and useless.

Thanks for the help folks!

Bikebandit.com shows the same part number for boots from 1991-1994. However, if they are loose on the carb side, you may have vacuum leak issues. You sure you don't have them on backwards?

If it were me, I'd try them and check for leaks with spray ether or something after the fact. Any leaks and I'd buy new ones. You have em, may as well try em.

Ya, I checked to make sure they were put on correct. They are labeled carb side up from mfg... I figured they would be the same part because I also looked on bikebandit and a couple other places, and they all have same part numbers. I wonder if the eBay seller misidentified them as coming off an F2 when they came off something else. Ah well, that's what I get buying parts off eBay! LoL

So this is me assuming that someone posted spam on my thread and they were reported, and not that I was reported for my thread being spam? Hopefully?!

You should have clamps on all four intake boots for snugging the carbs on. If you only have he sides you're missing clamps.

clamp 'em down real snug like and check for leaks with propane.
