Was quite satisfied on the ride home. However when in neutral with lever out I get "clutch chatter". Pull the clutch in and it goes away. Had zero noise before today's service, noticed it when I got home and put the bike in neutral to open the door. Sounds like the idle was adjusted as well, but with the chatter noise it almost sounds harsh. I've done a little research on the net and r6 forums but got 2 varying answers: some say its normal and known thing for r6/ r1 (even at low miles), others say it's problem not to ignore. I plan on calling the shop back tomorrow and see what they say, but would like to know if anyone else has experience with this. Would any type of adjustment caused this, like clutch cable? |

I'll still call them tomorrow for piece of mind. Other than the chatter the bike runs even better than when it came in, which wasn't bad to begin with. |

| Training Wheels Joined: Jun 2008 From: Kirkland I Ride: 08 R6 | Brought it into the shop this morning and they got to hear the chatter I described. They said it is "normal" to have a little bit of chatter with almost any bike, wet or dry clutch. If I notice any problems with actual clutch operation or if the noise gets worse, bring it in immediately and they'll check it out. Playing around with it a little I noticed if I up my RPMs slightly the noise goes away. Downside is the newer R6 doesn't have a true idle adjustment due to the fly-by throttle. It's all electronic. There is a screw adjustment for the throttle stop, which would force the throttle body slightly open and thus "up" the idle RPMs. However this screw is underneath the gas tank and a pain to get to, so not really worth the effort. This is probably why the sound started yesterday after the service, my idle was adjusted and is slightly lower than it was before (but where it should be per factory specs). |

If a shop doesnt feel like taking the time to properly adjust something, they tell you that its normal (even though it NEVER did that before) and if something catastrophic happens, to let them know ![]() |

| MotoGP Contender Joined: Dec 2005 From: bothell I Ride: hayaboosta | ![]() clutch chatter is normal for all bikes. there is no such thing as one that is perfectly quiet. sometimes the sound is more aggravated by lower idle speed. your bike should idle at 1300 rpm or so. if it is set lower than that, you will get more rattle. all clutches change sound as the clutch is pulled in. i would not worry about it unless it starts to sound like a duc. |
