I Ride: 2007 Suzuki V-Strom 650 (Blue)
Question V-Strom Windshield
So I own a 2007 Suzuki V-Strom DL-650. My biggest complaint about the bike is wind turbulance and buffeting on the freeway. I'm also 6'5", yeah guess I'm tall huh? Did some reading about it online at othersites Advrider, Stromtrooper, etc ...

So seems like quite a few peeps recomend the Madstad Adjustable Windshield Mount for this bike!
http://www.madstad.com/

But I keep wondering if I should get the new Givi Windshield D260ST
http://www.giviusa.com/caschi_borse_...sp?CO_ID=10544

Anyways ... I'm ordering the Madstad to start with. Will report back and let you know how it works :-) If you have a strom reply back to the thread and let me know what you have done?

Thanks,
Justin

I am also 6' 5" and used to own a 2005 DL650

I tried the stock screen in every position and I also bought the big Givi screen.

The Givi screen did not improve the buffeting problem and it was so tall that the black edge of it was right in my vision-very annoying.

The thing that actually made an improvement for me was the Laminar Lip.

It actually smoothed out the air flow pretty well, made riding the bike much less work.

Humper- get both. You may be able to eliminate the buffet with the Madstad & stock shield, but the wind noise is horrendous. You should be able to find nirvana with the Givi/Madstad combo.

If you find you need a shield larger than the Givi you can try MP screens or CalSci.

Try the Givi first though, it's the least expensive one out there and works well for most folks.

I Ride: Slower than U!!!
The only thing I found that worked on my 03 strom was the Windstrom windshields, but of course they don't make a madstad for anything -04. I also found that mirror extenders seem to help get rid of the buffeting. This seem to be one of those type of issues that has a different solution for every rider. Kinda like the Sargent, Corbin, Gel, seat debate. Good luck.

Dang it, I ordered the madstad the day I put up the post! However I might be interested in the GIVI shield you have? Is it the one with the black edge? I want the clear one ...

I mounted the madstad! It did help quite a bit, however I think I might need a bigger shield also :-)

Yeah ... I was actually talking to madstad and they recomended the same thing. Of course they want to sell their product :-)

I did install the madstad, it helped clean up the air quite a bit! It was awesome during a hot weather ride, much cooler air, with just a little tilt.

There are a lot of settings on this damn mount ... I'm going to just start trying them out I guess ... and looking for getting that Givi shield.
