Not to be the worry wort... but maybe there should be some sort of "key turn in" before the festivities of each night begin? Obviously the beer is a big part of this get together, and I personally don't want this event to be remembered by someone getting tossed, thinking a ride sounds good, and wrecking their bike.

Thoughts?

We booked B-1 and will be happy to share space, bringing truck and 2 bikes. Not sure how many people but fewer than max. 8.

Thought about that one myself but .....

8X10 tent or dome tent, next to site A4. 20 ft. pad at 5% grade, rest 10%. Sun and shade. No 5th wheels, motorhomes, or trailers. Tent trailers OK.

I'd see if you could get it switched for A001 or A008, course you will be right next to Click and his home brew.....

There's still 3 really good campsites available down in our group. If your going...you should probably committ and get them rented.

Also...I need to get a head count and who has what spot reserved.

I will post up some suggested days rides tonight via google maps.

Ok...whose in and what sight do you have?

For those that are lurking...the campsites are pretty big and we'll have a number of people on each site. There's also last minute sights down the side that they dont assign till you get there...should be plenty of room away from the main group of sites

Just talked to a buddy today who was up at Diamond Lake. Said the mosquitoes were murder. So thick he was covered in blood from slapping them. Hope it's not that bad when we are there.

If this heat keeps up, the mosquitoes will be murder at Diamond Lake. OK, who's buying the Mosquito Bite pizza at South Shore Pizza for Friday lunch.

Just heard that highway 138 from Roseburg to DL was shut down for fire. I know the campout is two weeks away, but last year when it got shut down, it was for a long time. I'm not worried yet, still plan on heading down.

With the command team they have going in today for that fire, the highway will most likely be open within a couple days tops. Fire's about 300 acres I believe this morning, so unless it gets up and makes a huge run it will probably be completely out, or at least not growing anymore within a few days time.

Edit: update on the fire this morning has it at 540 acres. The incident command team is scheduled to inbrief and take over at 4pm today.

Shhh!

And now 1465 acres (as of 5 hrs ago.)

Also, this is a nice site for keeping tabs on fires.

As I previously posted we have all been really looking forward to this trip and meeting everyone. However, after our Laguna event we are operating in "catch up mode" and that doesn't look like it will change before next week. I have reserved a good spot, B-1 and would like to make sure someone from the this group gets it. Please contact me if you are interested and we can figure out how to transfer the reservation.

Obviously this may put a hold on things:

The Williams Creek fire has closed Oregon 138E. Detours: from Medford, use Oregon 62 and 230; from Eugene use Oregon 58 and US 97. Eastbound traffic on Oregon 138E is stopped at MP 29 (Susan Creek) and westbound traffic is stopped at MP 39 (west of the Dry Creek Store).

We'll watch it over the weekend and I guess make a determination then...this sucks

Do they give refunds for the reservations?

I'm probably SOL because I'd be going down 58 from Eugene anyways.

I like your avatar!

Anyway, I don't think you're SOL. I think we're all fine, no? Click has brewed a nice batch of something-or-other and we shouldn't let a little brush fire stop us from drinking it.

Eugene/Roseburg folks could certainly just take a detour, ala the beloved Tiller-Trail Hwy. Yum.

Sure, it's a bit longer of a ride/drive but I'm all busted up about it.

Yeah...if if we dont ride 138....we still have Crater Lake and all points in between there and 140...i"m still going up

Whew, good, 'cause the boat's gassed up and I'm ready to do some fishing in the early AM while the rest of you are sufferin' hangovers before riding.

HELL NO, WE WON'T STAY! I'm coming down regardless of fires. There's more than one way to get to DL. I'll be driving my truck with kegs of beer and my VFR in the back, so if you see/pass me, wave.

I can't speak for others but I'm still the only one in my camp site and there should be plenty of room for another tent.
