I just bought a Gopro Hero Wide Motorsports Cam! I tried it out on my sons dirtbike and seems to do well. What you think? (Honda Cr85)

Can't wait to go on a group ride with it!

fuck yea! I need to get one of those. Usually the best crashes and all most crashes are never caught on camera.

Looks pretty alright. Only thing that sucks about helmet cams is that they make everything look flat. Sometime you might try mounting it on your chest, like nipple height. Lot of DH guys are starting to do that now. I think I'm going with the vholdr countourHD vs. gopro.

Too bad you didn't have one for your faceplant!

It would have been epic if I did, seriously. Worst part is noone I was riding with saw it happen. They just found me grunting trying to regain my composure.

nice work,

I have one as well. I like the side mount better than the top mount, you get more of the bars/throttle/clutch. Plus you can see wheelies better.

I guess I got bored with mine-- a shame. I was happiest with mine mounted on my fairing.

Thumbs up cost
EBay! I got it for $136 including shippping. Record time is an hour using a 2gig sd card. (additional 10 bucks at walmart)
It runs on two aaa batterys.
Make sure to get motorsports version, (great suction cup and like 6 other mounts), or you will end up with a stupid wrist strap or something!
It also can be set two take a still every 2 or 5 seconds!

A bunch of people on the Katriders forum have the Go Pro's and from seeing the videos posted on there, the only problem with the Wide, is it seems to make tight corners look a lot straighter than they really are. One friend on there took a pass on the Dragon with his Go Pro wide and it looked like a bunch of 100mph sweepers, next video with his Go Pro standard looked insane. I want the Go Pro HD standard.

Ya, Bonnie Lake is where mine came from.
I used the standard windows movie maker program to edit video and add music. Really easy program. I've never done any video editing and my girlfriend showed me the basics in 5 minutes.
If you add music on top of the motor sound and youtube it they will probally block audio due to some stupid copyright thing. Don't worry though, if you type re-enable muted video in youtube there are a bunch of people that tell you how to get it back on in less than 5 minutes.

Has anyone looked into rechargable Batt's and a car charger? (I can charge spare batteries while I'm touring on the bike). Always have a fresh set handy!

I've used the expensive lithum, (work longest), and good rechargables. Both are great. Make sure to read the package on the rechargables. Go for the highest "mah" # regardless of price. So very worth it to have the best.
