| Superbiker | Possible ML - Seca Route? This would be a 3 day trip, realistically. I don't think anyone wants to ride more than 8 hrs straight in a day... |

We would shoot for arriving in Monterey (near racetrack) Thursday sometime. That would give us Friday to chill and recover from our travels before hitting the races on Saturday n Sunday. Then depart for home Monday morning. This is all tentative at this point though.... |

I see what you are wanting to do because the coast is my fav too. But that is a long way extra. If a person went the back way they could get to Seca possibly enought ahead to have a day of riding around the twisties of Salinas CA. There has to be some good roads on the shorter route. |

There was a couple of stretches that were a grind to ride, but it's worth it. Riding down on a sportbike is not for everyone. If you're not a road warrior you better fly down. Verified In: BAMA Coder Delta Slag You? If you are coming we need to meet ASAP (at Slag’s place? Post up Slag...) to discuss the following: Ticket purchase (We have 2 places to purchase promotional packages) Tickets should be purchased very soon. Departure/Return - Depart Monday June 29 or Tuesday - Return Tues/Wed of following week (Both determined by consensus) - Stopping points - I’ve accumulated a recommended list of “must see twisties” in CA that would be nice to incorporate into our route. Basically we’re doing 101 down and most likely slabbing I-5 back - but I'm for seeing some sites on the way back too. Budget -Ticket package - $225 or $340 depending which company we buy from (you can get tickets on your own for a lot less but give up some great perks) - Hotels: We’ll find cheapos on the way down & back but expect $150 per head in Monterey depending on head per/room. So plan on $750 (maybe less) for hotel money. - Gas - 8 tanks down – 6 tanks back $200ish? - Food - Some meals are provided with ticket package I did this trip for less money last year as we camped in tents once down. All the good camping spots are reserved early and camping on the hill is not recommended by me as you're too far from amenities. Lot's more to discuss, see you at the bike nite meeting. |

I'm for doing a bed n breakfast type place and splitting up the costs at $300 per night. Last edited by coder; 03-24-2009 at 07:05 PM.. |

| Endorsed Joined: Apr 2008 From: Royal City, WA I Ride: gix 7-fitty | I did some research and hotels that are $70 dollars a night jump to $230 friday and saturday because of the races. Thursday and Sunday night will be way cheaper than Friday and Saturday, so the overall cost averages down. Let's talk at bike night on thursday and come up with a meeting time for the road-warriors to get some tickets ordered! Also, last year I flew down and was able to find airline tickets for around 220 round trip. That might be a solution to someone who can't take a week+ off of work. Also, the fuel and travel hotel stops are not on the budget that way. I immediately met up with the crew and still had a blast, even with a rental cage.... At least Monterey means we wouldn;t have to do the WHOLE length of the imperial valley....you can fall asleep out there for 20 minutes, wake up, and not only still be on the road, but not miss anything important. Only good part of the I-5 route is the pass near the border. Every thing else is slab-city... | |

| Pit Crew Joined: Apr 2008 From: Royal Slope, Wa I Ride: K4 Gixxer thou | The travel times have been chosen based on last year's experience. Me & BAMA left on a Wednesday afternoon and arrived at Laguna on Friday afternoon and did the trip in two days (one night) slabbing I-5 back. Adding two days to that will barely alleviate the grind as it is really a lot of riding. Down route from last year: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...013,39.375&z=5 Leg 1 - 375 Miles Leg 2 - 450 Leg 3 - 229 My plan this year was to lengthen Leg 2 for more site seeing and spliting it up into two days. Trust me when I say it's worth it. The Redwoods and the coast were amazing. If you need to be back in less time, then maybe arrange heading home a day or two earlier with a different group or partner. The ride down really was a an incredible experience so the more travel time we have the better. I wouldn't mind doing the ride even without the Laguna event. I recommend putting a lot of miles on your bike in the weeks leading up to the trip. That's how I prepared last year and it worked out well. My neck was a touch sore on night #1, but after a good nights rest I was golden. BAMA was saying his 600RR vibration was getting to his wrist. I have a Throttlemeister and I HIGHLY recommend it. |

If we roll into Lincoln city, we have to have dinner at either Gracie's Sea Hag or The Spouting Horn in Depoe Bay. Maybe we should just plan on leaving sunday or monday and just take it slow? I know, schedules...

Central route I was referring to: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...09&ie=UTF8&z=9 Great views thru there. Waterfalls, mountains, amazing high bridge over water, twisties, trees, etc. I'd do it again for sure. |

Heading north for 3 hours to go south seems counter-productive. But open for discussion. BTW, if we buy the package thru the Kawasaki ROK promotion, we'll pick up roadside assistance for the trip (in case you don't already have it).

I'll be on my Kawasaki, so an ROK promotion = I can deal ![]() BTW my brother has expressed an interest in going - he wants to visit my dad - but he would be driving. So he may be willing to transport essentials without the need for FedEx if that pans out...

You guy's don't need to adjust your route for me, cause I just don't think I can get aroung the cost, and amount of time I need to take off from work. Looks like a good plan you guy's got going so far. R |

If 2 guys go in on a room for 4 nights 150 a night its 300/per. standard 3 day pass is like 100 (if we wait to long). honestly we do do the weekend its self for about 500 (without gas and rooms on the way), and really who among us hasnt spent that much in 3 days and go what happend? lol. |

Salinas is only 9 miles from the west gate to Laguna. I'm staying at the Motel 6 in Salinas July 1-6th.... total cost is $360.... based on 2ppl Some advice though... book your rooms NOW!! Even for the stops down/back. |
