It was obvious that it has been ridden hard.
The pics don't do it justice. It was much cheaper looking in person.

black seen there

black and whiteish

crazy green

BMW mottorad colors

Notice the two different swing arms depending on the color.

on the production bike there is no just plain molded black plastic. It's all textured and of a much better fit and finish, as is everything on the whole bike.

I don't think the fit and finish was that bad. It was that the plastic was thin and flimsy looking.

the black plastic is the main thing that is different on the production model. it's all textured and thicker.

the fairings...well yeah they are flimsy looking, they weigh nothing!

Whoa... I cant recall of any motorcycle where the swingarm color is part of the scheme, meaning it changes based on the color of the plastics.

Well it looks like a mash-up of a Honda, Kawasaki, Yamaha, and a Suzuki and probably priced right in there with a Ducati.

I am not a BMW fanboi, but I am soooo tired of hearing this line. As if they copied the others. To me, this bike looks like no other.

Take the top ten supercars on the planet, and they all look quite alike from 30 feet. But when you look at the small details, they are nothing alike.

Very nice bike, considering it's their first try at a liter bike... The one at the show is a pre-production model and not the final piece that will soon be out and avail. to the public!

I can't wait until the shootouts when this bike goes up against the Japanese liter bikes. Also they should throw in a Ducati 1198s and maybe a GSXR750 for good measure. If it beats all those bike then they will sell a lot of them. If I had to buy a sport bike now it would be an 1198s.

For sure! I saw it and was like this thing has been ridden hard and put away wet. All scratched up, windscreen was wasted, radiator had holes in it. Why didnt they bring a new one? Disappointing!

this was the one that has traveled all over the wet coast. The production bikes are JUST now getting into the US on the first boat.

Dealers are getting a display bike within the next week or 2 and will get the keys on Jan 26th at the dealer meeting

What's with the ugly asymmetrical headlights? I think they were afraid that the front end would look too much like R6 and decided to go with asymmetrical lights.

I Ride: The Duc way! Fair weather only.
It's still sooooo ugly, though not as bad in real life as it is in pictures. The dark color helped hide most of the flaws but man-oh-man that tail section is a disaster. It looked like a set of vampire dentures were stuck in the azz.

While looking at this bike at IMS I spoke at length with the gentleman who will take delivery of the first article in PDX and he said, "Once I get a full set of Hotbodies or Sharkskins [track fairings] with a race spec belly pan it will look okay as it will smooth the jagged bodylines and get rid of those headlights"...."the plastics look cheap and it's over styled with the jagged fender and tail section with the batwing light"...."too bad they didn't use CF or thicken the plastic tank surrounds to give the tank better protection"...

hahaha I couldn't agree more.

It's whats underneath that counts anyway. I think it looks cool but you aren't riding the plastics. Its H-O-T.
