Now that I'm rooted in OR I want to really dig my heels in and promote lane sharing So I ask you PNW send me all the info you can on lane splitting: studies!! (this is a MUST) (anyone have the HURT report in PDF?) letters, letters of support (or any letter for that matter) and if you have any documentation reguarding lane splitting (town halls return letters from you state reps) Starshooter10@Gmail.com or starshooter10@msn.com the more info you send the better! The key to getting lane sharing legalized is in 5 easy things: educating ourselves as well as the non moto riders sticking together and showing support petitioning to our reps that THIS is what we want! centralizing all riders and info getting the word out! I should have a website and possibly a forum up in ~2 weeks if any of you think you may be helpful in anyway please let me know. while Im sure some of you dont approve of lane splitting, this is about legalizing it for those who DO. lets keep it on topic - getting information centralized to me. Do not go back and forth about pros and cons. we already have enough threads about that |

I wish you luck; we'll need it both there and here in WA. Here's a link to a study the Oregon DOT did in the summer of 2010: http://ntl.bts.gov/lib/33000/33000/3...ne-Sharing.pdf It's the most recent material out there. In a nutshell, it recommends more study. BTW, lane-sharing/filtering/splitting is only legal in CA currently, no other state allows it. In those states whose laws don't specifically mention it (like New Jersey), law enforcement will ticket you for reckless driving or similar. A bill in Arizona passed in 2010 but was vetoed by the governor. A bill also failed in Texas. It has recently been recommended to me to try to introduce two bills, not one. One for lane-sharing and one for filtering. That way, it keeps each bill short and also keeps one potentially alive if the other dies. Also look at this site if you haven't already: http://laneshare.org/ The info is not always up to date but it's worth a look. Keep me posted on how you're doing and what actions you're taking. If we both can say that the other's state is also trying to legalize it, perhaps that will help a little. |

I cannot understand why you wouldn't lane split, it makes no sense at all to "drive" a motorcycle as if it were a two wheeled car, and for the life of me I just don't get the bitter opposition from some other riders. Maybe they've never lane split? I dunno. |

CA actually does NOT have a law allowing it, yet no lows preventing it. most states have laws about 2 vehicles in the same lane... thus illegal. |
