Question Your winter motorcycle projects?
Winter time is definitely here (sigh)... what kind of projects have you been doing or will be doing to your motorcycle(s)?

Any big rebuilding jobs or upgrades or just overall maintenance?

What's the bike and what's the project? Please share.

Rip off some parts from my cbr and powdercoat (i.e. swingarm and other some other stuff) then full HID setup, double bubble to it... then try to scavange some cheap racing fairings.

My ZX-10R is rocking along just fine. Besides some general maintenance, the only upgrade I'd like to add to it is a deer whistler system. My friend installed one on his Yamaha FZ1 and had success with it during his motorcycle travels.

Yeah, somewhere in my garage I have my trusty old Goldwing in need of an exhaust gasket and tires. Tires are really hashed up from trying to ride it like a sportbike, Donlops don't like that.

Let's see....

Jet Kit for the Katana. Power Commander is in the mail for the FZ6 and will be here Saturday. Getting Leo Vince cans for the Fizzer too, then I have to see Nels the next time he is down in April.

After that, new tires for the wife's Ninja. Then maybe wire in a power port on the FZ for my phone or whatever else I want. If I have time, I will try to retro some projectors into it, but that will probably have to wait until next year.

Then we have my basketcase 1979 Elsinore 125. I mean literally basket case. It's in a basket. 1979 Elsinore CR125

I Ride: '99 R6
Repainting my R6. The previous owners didn't bother removing paint before applying another coat so what I had on my hands was a rattle can black job with paint flaking off in large ugly chunks. Also the fiberglass is in pretty rotten shape in some places.

So far I've stripped most of the old paint off and hit it with the first coat of primer. Just before logging on I wet sanded the primer and tried to smooth out some of the really rough patches. The fairings are drying right now while I wait for the pizza guy.

After dinner I'm going to clean them up with denatured alcohol and hit it with round 2 of primer.

The color scheme is going to be gray/black. The fairings will be gray, I'm not redoing the paint on the fender, rear hugger, tank, or tail, so they'll remain black. I bought some stencils and I'm going to stencil "R6" where the decal should be.

It won't be pretty because there's a fair amount of fiberglass damage and imperfections elsewhere on the bike, but it'll look alright from 20ft.

THEN I'm going to change the brake pads and play with the suspension. I might end up doing a fork rebuild before summer depending on how it plays with the suspension adjusted properly.

If I have the time and motivation I might rejet the bike since it has a non standard filter and exhaust. But since it gets up and goes and doesn't seem to have any power issues, I might just put that off and put the money towards tires.

Tires, suspension tuning and bodywork for my 03 ZZR1200, i am thinking of going with a vintage kawi green/white/silver motif, with the beetle bags it should be a unique bike in any crowd. I love touring on it and am looking to mount some old man foot pegs forward on the bike. The challenge is doing it without sacrificing lean angle. I'm putting a fork brace on the old girl to steady her up in the front, if that doesn't do the trick a steering dampner is on the list as well. The bar risers make it tricky.

My 07 GSXR 600 is getting new bodywork, and suspension tuned, it's also getting bar ends and frame sliders. I bought this right after our trip to WSBK 2010, a back surgery delayed my plans for this bike a year. I'm looking forward to my first track day, it has been a great motivation to get better.

I had a touring bike, a sport bike and a baby ninja in the stable a couple years back and loved that baby ninja for local gaddabouts. I'm definely getting another one, I would love the baby ninja racing class methinks.
