Fun little winter Moto "Art" project
About 15 years ago I briefly tried my hand at ceramics painting on a couple of beer mugs with spotty success. The glaze ran down the vertical surface and didn't come out well.

I decided to try it again with another type of item, a plate. Originally I planned on "cheating" by tracing over a pic to paint from, but the pencil marks came out so faint I ended up having to freehand most of it instead...so what you get is far less than professional looking, but I don't claim to be such anyway.

One of the difficulties with painting glaze is being able to get the thickness such that the color is of uniform shade. Another is that when painting black glaze, it dries to a color virtually identical to pencil marks. Therefore, it becomes problematic, at best, to figure out if you've finished the black areas. The graphite burns off during firing, so if one looks at pencil marks thinking it's glaze, you'll have a blank spot. You can clearly see where the depth of color wasn't uniform in the text, and that I had some bare spots where there should've been black surrounding it. I also missed a couple of detail lines and got a bit sloppy on some items like the rear shock. But all in all I'm fairly satisfied with it....the main thing is I did it for Kevin (Holypiston) and he likes it, and that's all that really matters to me.

Anyway, I thought you all might enjoy seeing some pseudo "Moto Art" which I spent several hours a week or so ago doing. I'll probably do a couple more before the rains subside, since I'm waiting on income tax $$$ to buy parts for pending projects lined up.

Wow, I really like that! I think the imperfections look good! Those would make great gifts.

Nicely done! Look forward to seeing more.

Very cool!!!

On the way to perfection you could focus on images of old Brit bikes? They were always bit wonky but everybody loves character!
