What does your bike mean?
I did some reading about my bike just for the heck of it and it turns out before it "came" to America it was called the RDLC 350 which means race developed liquid cooled. I have no idea why they changed it for the US or what it means but I thought this was kinda cool. Anyways what do the letters that make up your bike mean (if you know)?

Actually The name Hayabusa translates directly from the Japanese as Peregrine Falcon, the bird said to be capable of speeds of over 200 mph (322 km/h) — and predator of (perhaps not coincidently) the common blackbird. The name is a subtle reference to Honda's competing Hawk models. When introduced in 1999, it overtook the Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird as the fastest production motorcycle. The first generation of the Hayabusa was called the GSX1300R and was powered by a 1299 cc (79.2 cu in) inline-4 liquid-cooled engine. It remained substantially unchanged up through the 2007 model year.

Competition in the hyper sport bike segment increased with the release of motorcycles like the BMW K1200S, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-12R, and Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14. This increased competition led to Suzuki heavily revising the GSX1300R for the 2008 model year.[3] Suzuki has dropped the GSX1300R designation in some countries and simply called the motorcycle the Hayabusa. The engine size was increased to 1340 cc (81.7 cu in) with the compression ratio increasing to 12.5:1. The revised engine has a claimed 12% increase in power to 194 hp (145 kW).[4][5] Fuel is now fed through a pair of new 44 mm (1.7 in) Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) throttle bodies. The Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS), a technology introduced on the GSX-R line of motorcycles, provides three options of power delivery for a range of touring to wide open high performance. Some of the more notable features include a new 4-2-1-2 exhaust system meets Euro 3 and EPA Tier 2 emission regulations, a slipper clutch, and redesigned bodywork..

The motorcycle in stock form is capable of the following performance: 1/4 mile (402 m): 9.62 seconds @ 149.7 mph (241 km/h)[citation needed] 0–60 mph: 2.60 seconds[citation needed] 0–180 mph: 15.9 seconds[citation needed] Top speed: 188 mph (303 km/h)electronically restricted

For some reason, whenever I think about Suzuki I think about sewing. When I think about Yamaha, I hear music. When I think about Ducati, I hear a radio.

RZ 350 currently means a throw-back 2t with more panache than anything else you can now purchase new. Nice ride.

GL are the initials of Soichiro Honda's great-great Grandfather (on his mothers side), Gin Linamoto. Gin was a great Samurai warrior who fought in the Satsuma Rebellion from 1876-1877.

He fought alongside Saigo Takamori, who was the leader of the rebel army. The 20,000 rebels were heavily outnumbered by the 60,000 government troups. As the rebels were being over run, the rebels were cut down to only two, Saigo and Gin. Saigo beheaded Gin and then Saigo committed Seppuku, more commonly called hara-kiri.

So, Soichiro honored his Grandfather by using Gin's initials for Honda's most stout, and flagship motorcycle, the Gold Wing.

as far as i can tell...this makes sense to me...for the kawi guys.

GPZ = grand prix street
KZ = street
Z = sport street
ZX = faired sport
KX = off road sport
# = CC designation / class for street and off road use
R = competition
ZZR = Supersport
RR = race homologated (the RR was introduced on the street when the 6R got 636 cc's, the RR had a 599cc engine for race rules homologation...the ZX-RR is for faired sport race homologated, and the lack of a CC # means it's race-only)

GSXR :
GS - Gran Sport, used to indicate a road going Suzuki standard motorcycle, the only model that still uses this designation in the Suzuki line up is the GS500.

XR - eXperimental Racing. Designation added to GS for Suzukis road legal race replica motorcycles thereby creating GSXR.
